New Control legend Idea
Hey Apex Developers, Im Atomic9854, and I had an idea for a new aggressive Controller legend that mixes explosive pressure like Fuse with a projectile-style tactical similar to Conduit.
The goal was to create a Controller that focuses on forcing movement and controlling space without feeling overpowered or replacing Assault legends.
Legend Name: Shrapnel
Class: Controller
Homeworld: Salvo
Character Theme
A former demolitions expert who created magnetic explosive tech designed to flush enemies out of cover and control crowded combat zones.
Passive — Volatile Impact
Enemies damaged by Shrapnel’s grenades or abilities become “Marked” for 6 seconds.
Marked enemies:
leave visible spark trails while sprinting
produce louder hit/armor crack audio
briefly expose nearby teammates when cracked
Balance:
No full wallhacks
Short reveal range only
Cannot constantly refresh marks
Purpose: Helps punish grouped teams and rewards coordinated pushes.
Tactical — Scatter Bolt
Shrapnel fires a magnetic explosive bolt that sticks to surfaces or enemies before splitting into cluster explosions.
Tactical Effects
Stick damage: 10
Cluster damage: up to 40 total
Small slow effect on hit
Tactical Stats:
2 charges
22-second cooldown
Medium projectile speed
Counterplay:
Bright warning indicators
Predictable explosion spread
Easy to avoid in open spaces
Purpose: Designed to force enemies out of cover instead of guaranteeing kills.
Ultimate — Deadzone Barrage
Launches a spinning explosive core that creates a large area filled with timed micro-detonations.
Ultimate Effects
Inside the zone:
repeated explosions pressure movement
healing items use slower
nearby doors break from detonations
enemies are forced to reposition
Ultimate Stats:
24-meter radius
12-second duration
3-minute cooldown
Damage:
20 damage per detonation
Cannot repeatedly hit instantly
Counterplay:
Clear warning zones before explosions
Easy to escape early
Wattson can counter explosives
Stronger indoors than outdoors
Purpose: The ult is meant to break defensive setups and create chaos during rotations/endgames.
Strengths:
Strong anti-cover pressure
Great at forcing movement
Good third-party potential
Strong building denial
Weaknesses:
No mobility
Requires good aim/prediction
Countered by defensive legends
Less effective in open terrain
