New Ranked Mode
I have to say, the new ranked mode is great. No more hot drops and better balanced game play. A lot of the other updates seems to have balanced the game out as well. Best update in a long time!

I would rather get matched to a pair of random hot droppers in EVERY SINGLE MATCH than have my choice of drop removed.

Now you can win/lose based skill vs luck in a hot drop.

Team fighting and playing together is so important now. If a players runs around by themselves they'll just run into another team. I play with my teammates every game, right or wrong.
TBH - I did try to do me and focus on winning once, but it's better to stay with your team at all times with this new setup. I got punished for trying to solo my way to a win. After being ambushed I went back to playing with my team. ITS THAT SIMPLE.

It always was important. The only thing that's changed now is that we have a game type that literally stops you from exercising your free will. Now you engage with your team because the game is spoon-feeding good behavior to players instead of allowing them to learn it on their own. Or fail miserably. Personally I'm making it my mission to drop wherever they make me drop... and then move as quickly as possible to the edge of the map. Because that's what a sensible person does. And my squadmates ALWAYS loot for two seconds and then make a bee line for the center of the map. And die as soon as they make contact. Every. Single. Time. So I guess the whole "our way or the highway" isn't really having the effect they wanted it to, at least not on me. Preset drops or no preset drops, my randoms still play like idiots who think they queued into Wildcard.
Just play unranked matches. I don't understand why you think every game mode should be the same.
I've played Ranked since Season 2, when it was introduced, and this is the best it's been with the new update. There's plenty of "free will" in Apex with other game modes.
Plus, you stated you don't prefer Ranked. So why be disgruntled about something you don't prefer. Then tell the players who play mostly Ranked to deal with a toxic setup. But we've already debated this. Apex is a F2P game that does best when it's "evolving". It's that simple.
Lastly, team fighting is more important in Ranked now because everyone is spread out. So it's best to stay tight and fight hard together. If you leave your team you'll most likely run into another team on their path to the safe zone, teams holding an area, etc. Before the update you could traverse the map and not encounter enemy teams as much as the current build.
If you define "skill" as "aim," then sure, shooting is all that matters. But if shooting is all that matters why aren't we all playing CoD or Halo? Or mixtape, for that matter? But I'm here to tell you that just because most players couldn't make a good drop if their lives depended on it... does not mean there is no skill involved in choosing a drop. Or rotating to a new position. Or holding it once you get there. That's why I like this game: there is so much more to it than aim. Or at least there used to be.
I wouldn't define skill as just aim. There's a lot that goes into this game and I won't list it all here, but I'm sure you're an experienced player and would agree. Team makeup, knowing when to fight, not pushing by yourself, etc. With the POI's all of this becomes more relevant. With hot drops, skill is less important than luck. Hot drops is a combo of skill and luck. A lot of it is dependent on luck.
It doesnt matter how you define skill, bcs Respawns Definition of Skill is 100% different to yours.
