@KelRieveryou need to get 300 games with 16 points (4800 from b4 to p4) ,thats for 3rd or 4th and you can rat that easily in bronze silver and gold. you might no pull that every game but on some games you get 2nd with 36 points which makes up for an early loss and sometimes even 1st (i had 3 games won as a solo (team dead) without doing any dmg ).
So you might need around 450 games in 9 weeks (50 games per week, some ppl do that in a day) ... not too difficult of a taks imho. seems very possible to me depending on the char ... mirage comes to mind.
If the matchmaking is as some of the people here describe, you should not get the hardest lobbies since you didnt do dmg and kills at all , leaving you with a low hidden MMR.
450 games in 9 weeks is 50 games a week!
Do people not have day jobs?
Or if your day job is playing 50 games that week good on you. I mean congrats on your hiding Plat IV...which paid you nothing in 9 weeks but a stupid badge.
Priorities. If you're that person, seriously give them the Platinum IV. Maybe they should stay home. And if there are a 'lot' of people in that category, the problem isn't Respawn or Apex, it's a whole societal problem. You aren't going to fix THAT with a change to the scoring system!
Edited: for initial mistype but also uh, the point is really the same. And I want to add, I see a lot of people playing 50 games a week....but not spending it all hiding. Again, if you are devoting that much time to hiding, I seriously do not see you as a problem...at...all! That person should take up underwater basket weaving, for more excitement in their lives. That there are people doing this in droves is simply...I just do not see it.

@KelRievermay i remind you that a lot of players are students/children ? They have quite a lot of time and the urge of climbing up ranks ...
i just wanted to prove you wrong when you said it would not be possible.
And i didnt say that ppl would do that in masses, but with such a big playerbase, there is at least one guy that might do it. - pandareno19994 years agoHero+
I heard about a guy who proved a point recently by ranking up very high on Crypto without making any kills, or very very few with a bad KDR. A quick google search couldn't find it for me, I have to ask my friend for more details so I can post it.

@r1ggedgame Ok, internet hyperbole, but I kind of assert it really is impossible as in, nobody has done it far as I can tell. Even if it is possible, that number has to be so small as to be insignificant.
But when people talk about it, they talk about it like there's a whole bunch of players who got to platinum that way. And it falls along the lines of things like how, 'all those platinum players are bad', you know, with no thought to that they could be the bad players themselves.
Every single person I've played with or know, far as I can tell, got plenty of kills on their way up. It's more a matter of that some people play differently than others, and bad decisions often get made. That's far more plausible than the myth of hiding until you are platinum

@KelRieverdidnt say that its done by a lot of ppl, just wanted to point out that it is likely possible for smb who puts effort into it.
but you are very right with different types of approaching the goal of winning, 10 teams hot dropping on a small place with loot for maybe 2 teams is a bad idea to begin with, but ppl still drop that way ... even if you tell them not to ... which eventually leads to rat-ish behavior.
Drops with a person that is low tier lvl, should not be in the area where all the fancy divetrails go ... but jumpmasters keep ignoring that, they just drop where their favourite spots are. - pandareno19994 years agoHero+
@hayhor Well part of the point was that with Crypto you don't have to shoot your gun very much if your team mates are good and you are skilled with the drone, with KP being the same for kills or assists. I really hope he can give me a detail or two with which to find the story.

Diamond is kind of boring so far. Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad since I could drop back to a more interesting rank
- 4 years ago@pandareno1999 I remember when I used to play exclusively ranked, on season 4 and 5. My k/d went from 1.3 to almost 0.9, its just such a toxic gameplay sometimes. Luckily I got to get back to my previous k/d along next seasons, but the exclusive ranked play just creates that enviroment, that positioning is the most important thing. You can have 4 kills and still get negative RP xd
And dont even get me to how randoms make rank up way harder - hayhor4 years agoHero@KelRiever This the other reason we don't need demotion. People doing it on purpose.

It blew my mind at the time but if they position well and have the time I guess anythings possible. As of right now most of the people who have K/D 1+ has this because they quit before they smacked. Having 0.6 K/D means nothing, I have no idea why K/D is a part of any stat in this game that people actually cares about, in CS or other games where solo performance is key it has meaning while in Apex if you have fun dropping hot to practice something in pubs you will destroy your own K/D in no time. Right now the stat has no meaning as anyone can have over 1K/D just by making sure you quit before you are downed completely however bad you are.
Same your role on the team might carry you 0.4 K/D but still you got 2.8 A/D (assist/death ratio), so it really dont mean diddle 😉 MMR should definitively not be a whole lot based on this stat as it does nothing to describe how good you are.
- 4 years ago@hayhor That person didn't say how much time it took him to get from Plat IV to Diamond IV, trust me it's on the higher side. I mean it's a BR, all about the grind.

@BaldWraithSimp silver 2 to Diamond 4 can be done in less than 24 days 😉

Watching streams many quit before it counts esp in pubs where it's normal to mess up your kd. Also as I mentioned in another thread K/D might not be applicable as you might have like 3 in A/D as a secondary breacher I mostly supply damage and my primary breacher keep stealing the kills, I get the same points so I dont really care. But fact is and I see this a lot i pubs with people quitting if they see they loosing the fight, for instance last night landing fight I got no weapon only an arc star so I stuck a watson, took 1 second and he quit before even downed. I see this several times a day, especially streamers quitting fast on drop.
