I was always under the impression from certain Respawn devs trying dig their way from the proverbial hole that is matchmaking in Apex was that 'us players' just want quick matches & if that's the case surely any sort of fairness in matchmaking will play 2nd fiddle surely. And l watched the video of the Apex TD explaining the whole EDMM ethos around continuously dominant players will just get bored & quit the game because of the lack of challenge which if that's the case then why didn't Floyd Mayweather retire earlier instead of extending his unbeaten run to 50 fights (& now he just boxes exhibition fights against novice opponents for easy money). But does that same EDMM ethos apply to players who regularly get not just get beat but emphatically squashed in what are clearly mis-matches (just like in Mayweather's exhibition fights) but how many times do us casual players tolerate these squash matches before we say enough is enough & quit the game.I've seen well over a dozen or so friends quit the game purely because of MM issues & they will never come back the way things are.I mentioned a few times on other threads in the past that one way to possibly reduce MM issues in TR would be to offer a separate 'solo queue' lobby & a 'pre-made squad' lobby but got dismissed by other commentors but low & behold You-tubers Thordan Smash,J.Meyels & a few others have commented a few of the devs are looking at the very idea.
And whilst the whole MM issue is a large part of why over the past few seasons I just play Apex a lot less now than I used to overall is performance/ technical issues like server issues, the lack of a proper next gen upgrade, awful game audio, input lag,hit reg issues, awful hipfire, etc .Also just general decisions/or reluctance made by devs like needless changes, their constant obsession to bring in buffs & nerfs to weapons & characters for no reason & the complete inability to fix the basics like Squad/Match-Fill (which has pretty much been an issue since the beginning of Apex) has me questioning the competence of Respawn at times. Also it's Respawns attitude (or ineptitude) of just sitting back & allowing the amount of cheaters & hackers to flourish in the game but also failing to implement any sort fairness in the game by allowing out of control tap-strafing,spam crouch/jumping,wall to wall jumping & any other technical advantages that only certain player can use plus lack of other game modes a another big reason for my lack of gameplay time as well & often has me questioning when just quitting Apex is probably the only real option for me left.
@Redmattgameyeah, I thought about that explanation by the TD of Apex as well. If players are dominant, why wouldn't they go pro or stream at least? Why would they just quit? I don't know where they get their information from and how old it is, because if you're very good at games these days, you could get paid for it.
I've mentioned separating solo q and stack lobbies before as well. I think it would work, but not sure if it would be feasible and worthwhile for Respawn to do. On the other hand, if they don't improve something, they will lose more players. There are a lot of people that are very unhappy about the current MM.
I'm with you on the tap strafing and other movement tricks being unfair. They weren't intended for the game, but rather exploits discovered accidentally. I'm pretty sure I'll get disagreements from MnK tap strafers for that last comment lol.

I feel the same about people winning. People aren’t going to quit the game because they win too much— I have always felt like this is disingenuous.
But people will walk away if they lose too much. So the ethical question becomes: should all players have similar outcomes to maximize player retention? Should pubs feel easier as you increase your individual skill? Should average players win as frequently as a player in the top 10%?
I have and continue to pose these questions to people on this and other forums.- 3 years ago@Axs5626Sxa5001 If people were so good at the game and they were dominating, why wouldn't they just keep playing and start streaming? This day and age, people make money being good at games lol. Now...if people were losing and they were losing because the system grouped them up with drastically lower skilled teammates over and over and they kept dying early in the game, that can be real frustrating. They really need to do something about their MM system. Otherwise, they are going to lose a lot of players.
I've played Fornite for over 3 years consistently and then Warzone for 2 years, they were both SBMM and I have a pretty good amount of wins on both. That didn't make me less interested in playing either. I've been playing Apex for 5 months (besides playing the first few seasons), and I'm genuinely seeing their MM system as being an issue.
