When my teammates die (I play in a pre-made btw) we tend to communicate and we look a key factors...
1) Has there been any close fights near our nearest beacon?
2) What is the current ring size, would it be a good idea to go to the beacon now or play for points?
3) If we are near a good loot area with decent items around.
Ranked is all about points, the easiest way to get them is through kills.
I don't think players deserve bans for not bringing you back in.
There are toxic tms that pick up your banner & make you sit there til they die unless you want to take the penalty. And that's what I think the OP is talking about here. I think those kinds of players should be given some type of punishment like a leave penalty or points taken.

You can freely leave after 2 1/2 minutes, even if they picked up your banner (from the time they picked it up, I believe). I've never bothered waiting because I don't care if I abandon a game, but probably you'll know if you try and see if the warning comes up. If it doesn't you're safe is what I understand.
Really good players often take a long time to respawn you because they aren't interested in getting you or themselves killed when the dropship comes. Having said that, yeah, sometimes that's just too long to wat. - 5 years ago

I'd always sit these situations out. Your team mates might die soon, letting you off the hook, or might even carry you to some points.
