Here's the latest dev response when it comes to matchmaking in arenas more specifically in ranked arenas. It started out when this random guy was lashing at this dev on twitter after posting snow picture (people are crazy lol). I'll just just edit out the guy's name. The dev who responded was Samy Duc a lead software engineer at Respawn. Remember that we can always voice our grievances but don't do it like a crazy child.
Nothing new but it confirms why you are matched against better players in high tier lobbies and you're matched with less skilled players.

- @EREGDS Rank is not the only basis for matchmaking. It takes into account a hidden MMR system.
According to the dev, pred/masters lobbies in arenas, the likelihood of getting lowered skilled teammates are higher since most preds in arenas are 3 stacking. There’s not enough solo queueing preds to be matched as your teammate.
This basically confirms what a lot of people in this forum suspect, including myself, that ranked arenas doesn’t have enough of a player base to have proper matchmaking.- @Cheese9Man oh ok I go that part but it basically says something like SBMM is not working/is working because it is based on MMR which in turn again is a top-secret formula and does not say anything to us = regular players :D
And the fact about Preds/Masters and tristacking on the other hand is no mystery, that is a well documented fact - look at any streaming Pred/Master - they never play with randoms.
Yet I am still amazed how come Respawn tailor SBMM towards not only top 750 players but also one who are in a set team = giving them lower ranked enemies who don't have a stacked team...getting back to the point where e.g. D4 solo player who has not found a team is likely to run into stacked Pred/Master teams, because those poor skilled and stacked players have noone to play against :D
Geez, Respwan should just make stacked predator squads wait for a stacked predator / high master stacked lobbies only even if that takes days! Problem solved 🙂 might make some of those preds to play with randoms and make situation even more fair :P
