This is a document talking about an idea I came up with. A crossover legend event for Apex Legends by respawn entertainment. The idea is to bring Ion Fury’s (Developed by Voidpoint and Published by 3D Realms) main protagonist to the Apex Games, Shelly Bombshell Harrison. If you don’t know what Ion Fury is, do yourself a favor. Watch a video on it or play the game yourself then come back. I believe she’s a perfect fit because she also exists in a futuristic/cyberpunk world. She has quips, plenty of character and is surprisingly likable for a protagonist in a retro fps game. Those who have played Shelly’s cousins like Duke Nukem 3D and Lo Wang from Shadow Warrior. Know that those characters aren’t particularly likable, sure some of their lines are funny and awesome at times. But the lines don’t really establish them as a character too much. Shelly on the other hand may have some stinker lines at times but I enjoyed them more then other build engine giants. The point is that Shelly has a better chance of establishing a character and personality in the Apex Games. I can just imagine her having some lines with Ash because Ash looks very similar to some of the enemies like the cyber cultists in Ion Fury “You’re one of Heskel’s creations aren’t you.” I strongly believe Shelly’s voice actor would do amazing simulating how Shelly would react to things in the world of Apex. And converting Shelly as a model into the game would fit the art style very well.
Now I’ve come up with a season opening for this type of event. It would be a Crossover event with Apex Legends X Ion Fury. It would bring the usual, a collection event similar to the Final Fantasy event earlier this year. The all class heirloom Melee Weapon will be the Electrifier, a shock baton. Shelly’s melee weapon from her game. And a ton of iconic skins for legends, I chose Ash (Cyber cultist themed), Bangalore (GDF themed), New Castle (GDF themed), bloodhound (Cyber cultist themed). Conduit (GDF themed), octane (Cyber cultist themed).
It would bring a new Game mode called “Retro Arena” where it takes place on the new Thunderdome Map except run and strafe speed is increased 35% and jump height increased by 65% and faster couch walk speed similar to revenants and air control is significantly increased. You start by picking a loadout and it alternates between free for all arena and team deathmatch. Kind of how a retro fps game would feel like. Just a tad bit faster and a little more chaotic.
Second to last biggest feature that this event would bring is Shelly’s Lover Boy Revolver, a heavy ammo pistol as ground loot for anyone to use. To be quite honest Apex needs a new and interesting pistol and the Triple Barreled revolver that is the Lover Boy would be a perfect fit. It fires 3 rounds at once with each trigger pull the spread is very tight up to a 100 meters in a upside down triangle pattern, it can take optics, heavy magazines and a new hop up called Speed Loader it is rated as a Legendary tier. When you empty an entire cylinder you have to reload 3 rounds at a time like the old 30-30 repeater dual shell feature but with the hop up you can reload up to 6 rounds at once.

Bringing Shelly to the Apex games as a playable legend. Okay I know what you’re thinking. How would this make sense lore wise? Think about it, Heskel has dealt with all kinds of technology. I wouldn't be surprised if he tried sending her to another dimension or something just so he can take over. you know those retro FPS games aren’t really story driven so it wouldn’t matter to me one bit wouldn’t change my love towards that franchise. Heskel was able to finally develop a rift hole gun and caught Shelly off guard one night while having a drink at the bar after a long night in that cultist arms bust. Then is suddenly shot by Heskel himself by the RHG She was sent through a slipgate that took her to a new world. Shelly was now falling right out of the sky into the middle of Thunderdome. A young lady with a jetpack swooped in and caught her. She looks at Shelly and asks “You alright stranger?” And Shelly says “Yeah, thanks.” They descend, eventually land on solid ground and Shelly was able to stand on her two feet again. Shelly thanks her and asks “Who are you?” “I’m Valk but you can call me anytime. 😉” all the legends are surrounding Shelly. She dusts herself off and says “Just help get me the hell out of here.” Then starts firing grenades at Revenant's squad. As the grenades explode in the distance. she realizes that her overpriced water downed was once again one with the ground, it’s time for the Apex Games.
I wanted to start off the cinematic like that kind of like a retro fps game where the player just immediately thrown into the action.
Okay so the moment y’all been waiting for. Shelly’s kit as a Legend. Her kit name is Retro Renegade and she is an Assault class Legend. So she is able to have ACCESS to weapon supply bins and can carry more ammo per slot in her inventory. Let’s start with her passive ability.
Passive Ability: Maximum Hurt
Shelly can dual wield certain weapons
Can hold two of the same weapon in a weapon slot
When Shelly picks up a weapon a round is already in the chamber skipping the charge handle animation
Shelly can reload pistols faster
No ADS while in dual wield mode
Reload time increased by 67%
Hip fire bullet spread increased 33%
Spread increases significantly while firing
Cannot equip optics or laser sights

These weapons listed above are Shelly’s bread and butter. I included a lot of downsides while in dual wield mode for the sake of balance because you are now spitting a lot more lead at your enemies at once. The increased spread forces players to use the weapons in short controlled bursts.
Tactical Ability: Retro Run
Shelly will sprint boost for 6 seconds
Increasing her up to 30% faster run speed
jump height is increased by 50%
Increased air control and agility
With an ability like this it would enable players to escape situations when they are caught out in the open. Also be hard to hit when activating in aggressive type situations. While using retro run she has a sound queue when jumping. You’ll hear “Hup-hup-hup” like in the original game when the player is bunny hopping. This makes her vulnerable to enemies if they have a good ear. Her foot stomp audio is increased while in this state.
Cooldown is 25 seconds.
Ultimate Ability: Disperser Grenade Launcher
Shelly gains a grenade charge every 30 seconds
Hold up to 4 grenade charges
Grenades from Disperser have a 20% increased splash radius compared to other explosives
Fuse time decreased by 15%
Grenades from Disperser are 40% heavier and have a 250% increased bouncing effect
Grenades travel in a short arc
I also want to include that I’m trying my best to not make this weapon too oppressive, there will be an audio queue. Grenades make a loud bouncing noise same as the ones from the original game to give enemy teams a chance to react. And for the cherry on top, when using the disperser a semi slow pump action animation plays between when each shot is fired. To prevent grenade spam. Also a long load up animation plays each time Shelly brings out the disperser. The increased bouncing effect is needed for balance because it would make the ultimate impractical to use in close quarters combat, tight areas and small buildings, making the bouncy grenade unpredictable and remember Shelly isn’t explosion proof however it could be very effective at clearing out a squad posted up in a building.
Grenades leave behind a dark smoke trail while traveling through the air and have bright flashing yellow lights to make them distinguishable from the environment.

Upgrade 2: Take -25% explosive damage

Upgrade 1: Disperser projectile velocity and range increased
Upgrade 2: Gain +2 Max Grenades for Disperser but they do -15% damage
