Here is a pro player that disagrees with you. You are entitled to you opinion but but shivs gives very balanced discussion on the merits of the r99. The beginning is worth listening to but he starts talking about why pros prefer the r301 at 45secs (ish). The meta has slowly shifted further toward CQ though over the seasons but thats BECAUSE of the strength of the r99 and mastiff combo.
Any squad that camps up in a building has a caustic and a squad of shotties, people actually run at you just to close distance to use the masiff, i just try and gice myself a bit of wiggle room these days, squads think i run cos scared, nope just trying to negate their 5 foot cq ONLY tactic.
