Rampart Changes Summary and Feedback

Rampart has been struggling since her release so for her to finally receive a meaningful buff to her Ultimate is much needed.

As of the Evolution Collection Event Patch, Rampart will now be able to use her mini gun while running normally, however it will only have 1 magazine and only be usable for a short duration.

This means Rampart can use her mini gun much more aggressively and it will now be a lot more viable for getting kills, and this should finally increase her low statistics she's had since her release and make her more fun to play, but is it too much? Let's analyse the positives and negatives of this buff.

POSITIVES

  • Rampart's Ultimate can now be used aggressively and to support her squad in fights and pushes much better
  • Rampart's Ultimate is now much less situational, you don't need to worry about enemies getting to cover or breaking line of sight as much anymore
  • Rampart will now be more appealing to new players as her Ultimate is now easier to use correctly and not as passive anymore

NEGATIVES

  • The mini gun out damages every gun in the game and practically dominates every gunfight assuming the user hits all their shots, however this was balanced by making it stationary. Now that Rampart can use it on the go, it brings some concern towards balance. If you thought the LMGS in their prime were overpowered, this might be even worse

IS IT BALANCED?

From the Patch Notes and what we've seen in the new trailer:

  • If using it on the go, Rampart's Ultimate only has 1 magazine and a short duration in which it can be used
  • Rampart's Ultimate also winds up slower if she is running around with it

To run around with a literal machine gun already sounds terrifying but luckily there are some good balancing changes to keep it in check.

This change could work out perfectly and Rampart finally becomes a viable pick without being overpowered, or she instantly takes over the meta and we could end up seeing a new meta like combining Rampart's Ultimate with Revtane. That would genuinely be horrifying. Or, you know, she'll still be "meh". We will have to see once the patch is out there, but this sounds like a really fun change and I know all you Rampart mains are excited not only for the buff but also that sweet heirloom! (Also Wattson mains don't worry, your time is coming soon I'm sure :D)

@Piabetic At one time caustic was very effective on offense.....back when barrels did not rotate and could be thrown from a good distance through slatted windows. I still use him as a pusher but it isnt the same.
  • @hayhor Exactly . . he had that one sweet window where he was great fun . . running up on a squad, throwing a few barrels in their faces and getting stuck in. Didn't last long. As soon as they allowed people to destroy the barrels whilst being deployed it just neutered him beyond repair in my opinion.

@Cheese9Man That seems to be not uncommon occurrence. So many times I've seen someone who didn't pick Crypto go on to have a ridiculously good match. Heck, Ragg has a 4K on him!

@pandareno1999 Ragg really isnt as bad as he claims to be any more. I have watched him for a while, back when he really was "gutter tier" as he likes to put it. He smashes it up quite often these days and I do appreciate how he deals with "toxic" team mates.
  • @hayhor He explained it in a video once, something to do with his life experiences and some kind of Zen stuff . . . in reality, I think his passive approach just winds them up more which means more fun for us really.

@Piabetic I've seen him explain. He has or had some major health issues so he looks at gaming as a blessing.
