Ranked Squad Matchmaking Restrictions Make No Sense

I have just made it to Plat 1 after queuing with my friend. He is still Silver 3 and so we cannot queue together anymore. I get this system is in here to prevent boosting however, my friend is queuing solo and literally getting matched with Platinum players. This makes me think there is absolutely no reason to restrict the pre-made squad queuing at this rank. I had the same. When I was in Silver I'd be matched with Plat teammates but was unable to pre-make a squad with a Plat player. It ruins the enjoyment of being able to queue with friends. and again, I know why it's in place but the teammates make this irrelevant. You need to up the window for at least platinum players to two tiers. Diamond can then lower it to one tier if need be. I remember Overwatch having a similar system of Plat and below being able to queue within two or three more ranks than those of Diamond and above. This was then further decreased when in GM. 

Update: Not only is my friend still getting platinum teammates and enemies, he is get Plat 1 and Diamonds now too. And yet I can't queue with him as a Plat 4...
