Re: About this aim assist

@CCbathwater I guess the strength of AA is a mystery Respawn fine-tunes in the background, I guess there was even an official post about it somewhere.

In either case - my experience in the game is exactly as I wrote it - very frequent in my face 3 shots via Eva (146), Wingman (136) 3rd being Longbow (3x 60 or sometimes 112 headshot is there in between as well) but I guess that gun is just broken :D

Eva shots are just ridiculous - while I submit videos to Respawn where I shoot with a cursor on the enemy model and hit 0 or 7 and get comments that basically say I can't trust my eyes in the game, at the same time enemies do the same and the result is a constant 146...

Somewhat similar with Wingman and there the tendency usually is such that people can't do much in the distance, then they just go crazy berserk and push in and magically here comes 3 out of 3 hits, sometimes even with a headshot somewhere there...I don't get such accuracy in Arenas vs mostly braindead people yet these people I am speaking about do that regularly in ranked D4 level...

Beats me if that is not a AA factor (most of the time).

    @Eshshshss The eva stuff isn't aim assist. Anyone of any skill with any input can hit 2 shots of 120 with it. Also bringing up the longbow with regards to aim assist is silly as aim assist doesn't work on mid to long range.

    As said before I am ok with someone hitting it time to time but those cases where you barely see an enemy (I know all the theory about angles etc. just don't start) and they already 3-shotted you...

    As for the longbow I said that it is there just to complete the list of weapons I get regularly 3-shoted. Also as for AA I am not 100% sure to be honest - had one game where a dude who was playing on a controller landed crazy 2 flick shots in a row, I was dead spectating him and told him in discord "that's the power of controller", he laughed but said nothing. So who knows, its Apex after all - magic happens in this game even target tracking bullets when you don't even aim at the enemy :D

    @hayhorthat don't have to be you, I dead serious shot my Eva 5 times while the enemy's head was right in the dead center of the crosshair box thingy, literally dead center

    and what do I get? 0 damage completely miss a shot to the head 5 times in a row you don't just make that one up.

    @damsonwhufndthis Literally same thinig happened to me with EVA-8 this evening; found myself in clutch with teammates down.  Surprisingly got 2 of the 3 enemy squad down then that... FML.  lol.

    @RockDokRockyah, the hud is so counter intuitive, and the crosshairs too, like you take the point from real life, bullet travels probably faster than the speed of sound, so you expect when someone is right dead center in your crosshair of a shotgun they should take at least some amount of damage,

    but in bullet drop br game? all it takes is straife to a direction or a crough, and you get nothing

    and that's *, you have to predict someone's movement from point blank range, less than 5 meters and you can still literally miss your shot if you don't predict the direction the enemy is going

    @damsonwhufndthis that's called slow servers or lag introduction hacks, unfortunately, that's part of the online FPS gaming for you and not only in Apex.

    But the sad part is that AA somewhat negates that/predicts player's movement which is the whole point of this topic.

    @Eshshshssso the aim assist not only helps to aim at player but also to follow them around?

    And what do you mean by slow servers or lag? I have ping around 40 so I don't understand how this can be lag

    @damsonwhufndthisdude you really need to watch videos on aim assist in youtube :D
    Aim assist pulls in/slows down crosshair when it is NEAR (~half hitbox size given what I see in the videos) the hitbox.
    Thus when tracking or compensating it makes things much easier, it almost tells you when to stop correcting for enemy strafe, movement.
    While on M&K same movement would usually just overshoot like you would be on ice without skates and then you start overcorrecting that and in the end have a typical video of a player shoot all around the model but not at it.

    As for the servers - I don't know all the details but people here on forums say (can't find the post either now) that Respawn servers are just slow. Meaning that even when you have 40 ms ping you don't get (I assume) as accurate and as frequent info back from the server. That messes up predictions and creates cropping/teleporting on your end or bullets going through enemies because game on your PC predicted player movement incorrectly.
    Read on how FPS games work and how client / server side prediction works, couldn't find an easy video on it.

    Finally, regarding lag hacks - there have been and clearly still are software around that introduces lag making your game smooth but your model for others teleporting. Don't know how it works but I have seen it, I have tested it back in 2000s in Quake and it damn sure works yet you can't prove it (I guess) because you might as well just have a bad connection that's why only options here are allow players to use this hack and do nothing or analyze probably tons of information in the server-side to catch these players = usually not worth it for the developer company.
