- @Cro_Pittt For one remove the level cap completely so people can level up by finishing games. Anyone leaving doesn't get it. Same would go for BP stars. Quitters dont get them. Leveling up would get you packs.
Do that with a combination of the other items. @Cro_Pittt It is true that some people will not care about rewards, but most people will. And, frankly, while I don't think they'd offer a skin, of the rewards people get, skins are way clearly their favorite. How often have I gone on and said $18 is way too much money to pay for a stupid skin....and yet, here we are, people dropping every event that much and more just to get them.
All the rewards that currently exist that we already have in BP, events, etc. are fine. It doesn't even take a lot, but it's important that they be around playing and finishing matches. Given how easy it is to get 'play game' awards because you can just load the game and quit, I would keep the rewards, like in Arena, around scoring damage, taking zones, and winning games. These are the things that people find themselves needing to accomplish something to get the benefit, so the idea isn't just that they show up in the game, but they play it.
Now, if you want to introduce a penalty, maybe, but do it after the incentives are there. Then I would think that the penalty would work the best, if you are going to have one, because it's a pain to leave, and if you actually play, you get something for it.

If you que for control and leave part way through the match you should be penalized. You're ruining other peoples game. You know what you signed up for. Don't want to be penalized for leaving? Then stay. If they had Ranked and Regular, then I agree only Ranked should have a penalty for leaving.
I was excited for Control, but it just doesn't work for Apex. The engine falls apart with too many people in one place. It works really well for BR because the fights are usually spread out across the map.
The problems I've experienced so far:
Huge skill gap between teams
Performance is Horrible - Network/Connection, Hit reg, Overall performance
UI needs work. It's confusing. Just copy/paste BF
I really don't see this staying around unfortunately. I typically hate BR games and Apex is the only one I can stand. We need more Arena type games and not just Quake clones that fail every time. I really wanted to like Control.
@hayhor @KelRiever I don't think any of the things you guys suggested would make the difference, personally i'd not reward someone just because they're doing something they're supposed to do normally. Toxicity in this game is so bad and i think some kind of penalty would be very good since we don't have any for pubs.
LMAO. We’re definitely winning this game. 🤣😅
With a bit if hindsight, this doesn't seem to have been quite the casual game mode Apex needed. Maybe a TDM would be much better suited.
I REALLY hope that they find a way to introduce a casual play mode that stays in rotation. It is SUCH a breath of fresh air to play Apex without knowing that one mistake and it's Game Over.
- @pandareno1999 This has certainly became the TDM mode naturally. People queing just to camp in some random section of the map fighting with no benefit of winning. I think solo que in all modes and a TDM mode would quickly provide all play styles somewhere to enjoy in peace without affecting others.
Hello.
Let me ruin some of the suggestions here :D.
1.Solo queue - makes no sense here, it's about 2 large teams made up of smaller squads. Unlike BR mode, a solo guy can't win by himself and get all the credit. Besides this, everyone is on their own, at least that was my experience with Control so far. Absolute chaos.
2. Queuing up for the next game without going back to lobby - that doesn't work, because servers that process the matches don't handle matchmaking.
3. Filling up match slots with other players waiting - Now, why would I want to join a match that's half done, especially on the losing side? Also, it would be a bit complicated with the matchmaking.
4. Leaver penalty - It doesn't really work to add punitive measures in a game mode that's about fun and feels less competitive than casual BR.
I think the real reason for this mode's "death" would be the fact that it's not really fit for Apex. Wouldn't be surprised at all of Control not becoming a permanent mode in the end.
@DoYaSeeMeItems 2 and 3 happen in other shooters that are similar. Some you don't even have the option to start with a fresh game. It just dumps you in. If you matchmake the group based on rating you can easily do it.
- @hayhor Different games, different server models. It wouldn't be OK for the match server to do matchmaking, that would mean much more players connected than 60 / game and all these connections would have to be kept for much longer. More data would have to be passed back and forth. Match hosting scalability, flexibility and performance would be significantly affected.
Sure, others do it, but they struggle on other aspects. For example, a lot of other games would be incapable of handling such abrupt peaks and high player counts without huge costs and a ton more issues than Apex. There's always a compromise somewhere. - @DoYaSeeMe For the players staying in the server, I'm saying you have 18 players. The game ends, those 18 players stay in the same queue and the teams mix. If someone leaves someone that just queued for a game takes their place.
The issue I see is they kept the lobbies the same. You have to queue into a 3 man squad. It should just be queueing into a 9 man. As this is an ltm I understand why they did not spend more time on this. - @hayhor Ah, so you were referring to Control alone. Well, LTMs are designed in such ways to not require too many changes to existing systems, because it's not worth it. If Control proves its worth, then maybe they will do a different kind of lobby. I doubt it though, I think this mode was overhyped.
- @DoYaSeeMe Yeah the thread is specifically about control and issues it has.
Personally I really enjoy it. Still would rather have a full tdm tho. What is most ppls perspective on the Control mode? - out of curiosity.
I played a few matches upon release of the game mode. Although there is some serious issues on my platform with FPS drop - I personally was super hyped and excited for this mode. After playing for about 2 hours, I was a little disappointed. I found personally for myself - it reminded me of a hacked MW2 lobby from back in the day.
with Crypto's drone, all of Seers abilities and BH's scans and the smoke and fuse and all the new wallhack meta given to the last (I believe 5 legends made) it felt like a hacked * show. I could see where everyone was at all times and vice versa. A little disappointing to be honest.
I personally think Control would be epic if all legend abilities were disabled. Just plain out fire fights may the best shooter win. But I find the abilities just riddles the entire map and takes away from technical play and sound decision making and skill. Just my opinion. And I understand that what makes Apex unique is the abilities and how to apply them etc...
Not a bad mode at all and still kinda fun, more as a change up from the norm. But too much reveal meta.
- @NickBeam27 It allows me to play caustic again and is incredibly fun. Plus even if losing I can practice different guns legends.
