Re: As a PC gamer I think it's time to move on

First of all I want to address aim assist.  From what I remember if you are playing console and console only it's set at 0.6. If you are playing on PC with a controller I believe it's 0.4, 60% and 40% respectively.  There is a video out there demonstrating 100% aim assist and it's not what you think.  It's aim assist not aim lock on.  Even with 100% the reticle still slips away if there is movement involved.  It's effective but it's not what you think.  For those who don't know there is a bubble surrounding each character and the reticle will, to a degree, stick to the bubble NOT the legend.  The reticle will follow the bubble but if the reticle is not on the legend the shots will not hit.  Aim assist also doesn't care about recoil.  If you can't control recoil then aim assist does nothing.  I play controller but I have the option to play MnK and have before.  I would say MnK definitely dominates movement.  Can controller players do the same? Sure, but it's much harder to learn how to move on controller like somebody does with MnK. Tap straffing for example.  I can think of maybe 2 people that can do that.  Aim is also much easier on MnK.  Try shooting a hemlock with a 3 times at a distance you would actually use a 3 times for.  Not up close but a good distance.  Seeing as MnK don't use Aim assist I would also say turn off the aim assist.   I think you'll find, with proper settings, that MnK is far easier to control than a controller, hence why aim assist exists.  You could say that Aim assist is OP or something like that but I've used both.  I've spent years on controller, I grew up on controller, controller makes sense to me and it's far easier to use.  However if I had the time to learn MnK and put in the hours I definitely would.  To me there is just no question.  It's faster and easier to aim hands down.

Second thing I want to address is the skill gap now versus season 4 or 5.  It's changed.  A lot.  I remember watching YouTube videos of Hal playing controller with somebody else and they didn't know what the buttons were or how to do things and they were still slaying.  My only reason for that is because their game sense was so high they didn't need to be amazing aimers or cracked out movement gods.  They just understood what was going to happen before it happened.  That's a huge lesson that I think a lot of people have learned over the years.  People are getting better at the game and because of that people blame it on things like aim assist or aim bot.

For those talking about The finals.... it has aim assist for both PC and console.  So I don't know what the issue is.  I also don't know if anyone remembers when aim assist was turned off for either a couple of days or a couple of hours in Apex and it genuinely broke the game.  Like, nobody could play Apex.  That should give you an idea on how important it is.

Is there cheaters in the game?  Obviously.  Are they as prevalent as you think? I would say no.  If you can, when you die and you think somebody is cheating start recording,  Maybe they actually are cheating and now you have evidence.   Hard proof is going to get them banned most likely.  So that's great news.  I would argue though that most of the time you just got bested because of the choices you made.  Most likely more to do with positioning and game sense and less to do with aim and movement.

@ematt84the one thing controller player try to avoid is the fact that MnK players have to react themselves (visual response time), whereas the aim assist reacts for the controller player instantly + the aim slowdown (overshoot is also a common problem on MnK, not only on controller). that is the main reason serious critics are fed up with it, not that it acts like an "aimbot/lock-on". The "serious" discussion is also not about that it should be disabled, but to have competitive integrity , which means ... let us decide if we want to join a mixed environment and not being forced to join one for the sake of faster queue times. Which would also eliminate the infamous counter argument of the movement advantage (which is a complete different topic to discuss and i personally dont understand why this strawman is always being brought up, those discussions will always look like a phallus measure contest to me ) ... plain and simple !
In regards to The Finals, yes it has some form of Controller Assistance, but its a different approach to any other shooter game, lots of roller players complain it being "wonky. it kinda takes a similar skill approach as if you would learn how to aim with MnK, Embark seems to have competitive integrity at heart.
