Im sure not all games do it the same way, as some patches do install instantly and others don't. I remember when I first got a ps4 at launch all patches would install instantly. Then after a few years, this COPYING PATCH thing started to happen to all games. But on the ps5, I read full ps5 games dont do this COPYING THING, but I have yet to play an actual ps5 game on my ps5.
- @johnmiceter The smaller the update on ps4 games, the longer the copying. It has been like that for a long time. Larger installs are shorter. Why? No idea.
I am not sure if my PS5 game does the copying or not. It tends to update when I'm in rest mode or playing something else so I never see it. @hayhor It could be a stupid idea but i think that the copying data starts pretty much when you start downloading, so if you're downloading a large patch the ps4 will copy before the end a big part of the game. If you have a small sized patch, then most of the copy will be done after. At least that's what i think it's happening, but i have no technical base aside from my experience to say this lol.
