Crypto is ok. It doesn't even need a real passive - knowledge, how many squads are nearby is enough when properly used, because you can literally nullify 3rd partying. It is even better than bloodhound in that regard, because traits on the ground won't tell you how many enemies really are. You can then judge what to do - if two squads are fighting, but you see 3 on radar, is it wise to rush in? Of course not.

And about the drone and throwing thing - i think it wouldn't help at all and i really prefer to use it manually. You can set a trap with EMP? You can. You can hide your drone behind the trees, but in range of neurolink? You can. You can park it WAY ABOVE THE BATTLEFIELD to see enemies coming, and where they are hiding, even if neurolink doesn't scan them? You can. What else do you need?

If drone would follow you automatically, it would be destroyed quickly - i'm against it. What help would it be?

People don't have patience to wait for you to deploy the drone - its their problem. If they rush into 3 squads and get knocked, it isn't cryptos fault. It is meant for a bit different playstyle, but still viable.

But i agree, that playing with some cryptos is unpleasant - when someone takes him before me, and doesn't check squads frequently, its kinda frustrating. Microphone is a huge help. You can tell people where enemies are and what are they doing(Crypto with mic is OP🙌). It is a huge advantage.And you deploy the drone to see the banner. You go in, ping, you go out. Then you don't spend a lot of time in your drone.

And once again for the end - if 3rd partying starts to be unbearable for some of you - learn to use crypto. You won't regret it. And you will perhaps change your mind, that it is a useless legend. And not boring at all, if you like to plan and people listen to you.🙂
