Re: Limit on free Apex Packs (forced to pay for loot boxes)

Really, "pathetic levels of gouging"

I gather you are not even old enough to work, because once you are, you might have some consideration for how much time and money is spent building a game like this.

Not to mention you can play the COMPLETE game WITHOUT SPENDING a cent.

Entitled...

Older then you, given how quickly you were "offended." I have full time work, I still don't reward laziness.

Let me "buy" the game like Smite where I get all future heroes and I would instantly. I just am not a whale enough to play the loot box game and pretend it's ok like the current generation

Funny you mention Smite. I played Smite since closed Beta for 3 years and spent over $750 on that game in skins. While Ill admit that amount is insane...I also believed in that product and it provided me with 1000's of hours of entertainment. I also was rewarded from the devs for community contributions (Halloween carvings, etc) so in my mind, it was worth it.

I've also dropped over $250 on Path of Exile, another great F2P game.

@NewbieDontShoot That's not entitlement, that's being realistic about the prices of the items.
I bought Overwatch when it came out. It was 40 bucks. For those 40 bucks, I've gotten the COMPLETE game as it was back then, every single update since then, and a lootbox every single level (+3 a week from the arcade game modi). I'm level 650 or so, meaning for 40 bucks I've probably gotten 800-900 loot boxes containing dozens of skins for the 28 heroes the game has right now.

If you drop 40 bucks in here what do you get? According to the dude who spent way more than 40 bucks on them, not much.

It's always the same with cosmetics based transactions, people want them but they don't want to pay for them, it's a F2P game without a P2W system. That's already a good deal! The skins don't make you a better player, stop peacocking and just take what you can get...

People want perticular skins. But they can't buy those skins because the cosmetics are locked behind a RNG psuedo gambling system. People have no issues with paying for cosmetics in F2p. They just want to be able to choose what they're buying.

Well, you ruined your own argument yourself ^^

People want skins and they're willing to pay for it, but... for it! Not for a 0.001% chance of getting what they're looking for.

And you can spit all you want on the "non paying" players, but at the very second their number will start to significantly decrease, this game will start dying.

So it's for their best interest to deal asap with the cheater problem AND their greedy bussiness model. Not even sure they'll be able to keep it, lootboxes already were forbiden in the past.

Î'd say, let's wait March, they'll reveal their true face with their season pass.

Yep same experience, i never felt dragged by Overwatch to over spend unless i really feel like to or i just don't have time to play and want to get some specific skin. This game founders pack sucks, it's so bad.

I don't understand how you can be forced to buy cosmetic items.

  • The gatcha gambling system, also known as loot boxes, are designed to rarely give out any top tier rewards.

It is designed like this, to bait weak willed users into gambling money at a chance to get the item they want. The chances of getting that item are extremely slim, and will require hundreds of dollars to be spent.

In many European countries they have banned this type of Gambling designed to cheat weak willed children. Hopefully everywhere else will eventually follow and ban this type of rigged gambling.

You can only earn something like 45 free Apex Packs, which in total only gives you around a 7% chance to get even one Legendary Item.   After that they have completely locked everything else behind a pay wall.

This is going to drive away a lot of the F2P player base in the long run, as after hitting level 100, there is not point to playing, since you aren't gaining any real rewards.  You can't even buy skins promoted in store with the in game currency without first paying real cash to unlock a skin you may not even want. Thus further pushing more players away.

The system was designed for max greed, to try and maximize EA profits, however it is doing the exact opposite, as most people realize this type of system should be illegal everywhere.

EA is completely aware of this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loot_box

"Electronic Arts' games FIFA 18 and FIFA 19 were also called out by the Commission, however, EA did not make any modifications to these games; EA had previously stated in May 2018 that it did not believe the implementation of loot boxes in their games constituted gambling.[139] As such, the Commission has started actions with the Belgian courts to initiate legal action against EA by September 10, 2018, though whether such action is possible would be a decision of the public prosecutor’s office.[140]Ultimately on January 29, 2019, EA announced that it would stop selling FIFA Ultimate Team packs with microtransactions to players in Belgium by February, bringing them into compliance with the Commission.[141]"

Even EA was forced to bend the knee or face legal repercussions. They are completely aware they are targeting people with gambling addictions, and don't have any moral senses to do the right thing, without fear of legal repercussions.

    Oh come on people..

Making this game cost EA a lot of money.

And they want to make it back.

Thats sadly how all good and nice things in this world work.

If EA din't expect to make money out of this game it would not exist.

You get to play a realy good game for free if you like to.

And you even get a chance for free cosmetics as well!

  • Sorry, can't hear you. Getting headshot by an aimbotter. Please try again later.

i would happily buy apex boxes when they´ve dealt with the cheatfeast that´s going on.

or even paid for the game instead of making it for free.

How long will you realize a free-to-play game always costs ALOT more than a paid game in long run? lolz Accept this fact and move on.
