Re: Most toxic moment

@IlIlIIllIlIlIl I don’t do normal... normal is boring. Normally ppl also state how others are so amazing and follow them... until something happens and they change their mind... and that’s why ‘reality shows’ & teenage dramas are so popular. So yea, if one needs to go by what others subjectively state, they already lost or are gonna lose in the end.

Let the the facts speak for themselves. That’s why one has tests to take or research that can be done 😉

  • @Koochi-QI usually just laugh when people are being toxic, or just generally which has turned some to be toxic. 😛

I used to have some not so friendly outbursts but hardly as much now as I don't take it seriously, which also makes me laugh when others do so you can see how this goes round. 🥳

@IlIlIIllIlIlIl I prefer being surrounded by those that positively criticize to help me learn and improve than those that just give me compliments.

Example - When I streamed briefly during S2 for a handful of people I always got this one guy that said positive things but they were ego inflating comments that didn't really do anything but someone else who rarely came on but when he did he always criticized my moves and decisions which annoyed me at the time but after looking back I valued a lot more and it actually helped me improve as a player.

@DarthValtrexI was going to bring up the twilight thing but no comment.... xD

@Koochi-Q you know I don't use a mike and don't communicate with text. Don't lower yourself, remain aloof.

    Ping....... "suprise"

@apostolateofDOOMYou mean you don't like Sergeant Gunny types?! I really want to quote him but I'm fairly confident that would get me into trouble. I'm actually fairly chill.. I don't hand out advice unless people ask for help. I might occasionally ask for a portal, zip or one of the abilities from a teammate. Every once in a while I get a really new player, most of them you have to guide with their ult/abilities. Nothing like being with a new Gibi player who throws down their ult inside of the tunnels near train yard.. My heart rate increases and I go into full on panic mode. If we survive, I become the most passive player in the game hoping for top 3 and third party opportunity.

Worst I do now is a "what are you doing looting?! We are engaged in a fight!"

@OldTreeCreeper I don't mind no mic players. But mics definitely help with looting and clearing areas, especially if you're looking for certain guns or certain attachments. I have a teabag system.. Teabag if you need this or that. Let me see what guns you have, so I can look for attachments..

@DarthValtrex I know mics help with the team work but I really dont have time in my life for this toxic nonsense i hear so much about here. Apart from the fact that I cant use a headset due to aural issues anyways 😃

I listen to my teamates requests for weapon upgrades and that generally gives me an idea of what they need.

  • @Koochi-Q I agree with what you said but think it was a bad example. 😛

@DarthValtrex I don't give advice to randoms now even in ranked as it usually falls on deaf ears anyway.. unless like you said asking for an ult and I also don't do backseat gaming as I know how off putting it can be but I might talk to them about it after.

Sergeant Gunny types just shows a heated passion and sometimes they're quite creative but laughter is the best medicine and they don't like that. 😉

@apostolateofDOOM That’s the main reason I don’t hand out advice. I don’t want to be a back seat gamer. I do give encouragement and praise, try and build up that confidence.

I try and have fun with all personality types and people. Even the people who seem to be angry at the world. I don’t try and psychoanalyze people, but I know what it’s like to be depressed among other things. Those are typically the ones who need a friend the most.
  • @DarthValtrex I'm not well versed in Psychology but like you I have seen the bottom of the barrel a couple times and those that have been there are usually more empathetic and protective of others from that pain.

Gamers that use games as a form of desperate escapism definitely could do with some positive reinforcement and just like behavioural issues, homelessness or drug addiction, there is a stigma where people don't want to be involved but it's that involvement that's sometimes critical to helping that person in need.

People forget it's someone's son/daughter, brother/sister ect..and in the case of raging toxic gamers there have been multiple instances where they have had outbursts and I take the brunt of it but we managed to resolve the difference and went on to play further games together that were pretty chill and their attitude changed for the better from then on.

In my eyes, if he does that with others too, is a win.

@apostolateofDOOM Not well versed in psychology but I see some clear psychological words there sir DOOM :P

Escapism however is never, and I mean never a good coping mechanism. Always try for reactive one if one’s not very proactive. This is always better than escapism which is a sort of reactive coping but it’s more in it’s own league...

Immersion in something, like gaming for instance, is a good reactive coping as you don’t bury your head in sand while not trying to think of the thing you want to forget (sounds weird right). As long as you sooner or later (try to) face whatever it is you’re running from.

Free advice right here ppl... now pay me! XD
  • @Koochi-Q Which ones so I can remove them. :P

Although time does help heal some wounds, I agree, escapism is never the answer but sometimes the person knows it and doesn't know how to deal with the issues until someone offers a hand in support.

That hand and some time can sometimes be the key.

Wait, what? Where's my money!! xD
