Re: Respawn and EA just don’t care. Until they lose money they won’t

@jlyons1823 Now that's not true, EA and Respawn care very much about the game. It's their work, their life, their future.. Now I don't speak for anyone, but based on what I have seen the Devs do, their engagement with the community (not just streamers/famous people), EA community connection program and numerous other things shows me they care deeply about the community.

Everything I have seen from EA tells me they want to and try to provide us with what we want as gamers, while still staying to true to their vision of what they want the game to be. Even putting their own unique spin/flare on some of the ideas suggested here and other places.

You don't get much more responsive than that from a gaming company.

@DarthValtrex Sorry but EA isn’t as great as you think they are. You might be forgetting what happened to Battlefront 2, Mass Effect Andromeda, FIFA, Anthem and Sim City.

Oh and that recently released BF 2042 game. LOL.

I have a lot of respect for Respawn but not for EA. Unfortunately that EA corporate greed bleeds into apex from time to time.

Let’s not forget this PR nightmare of a tweet 2 weeks ago where even Vince Zampella (former head of Respawn) face palmed EA.

Some of you need to catch up on Jmeyels vids, there’s a lot of negative surrounding both EA and Repsawn at the moment, even ‘Pros’ are starting to speak up after this failure of an ALGS ‘event’.

@Gabrielmojo26 I quit watching Mr clickbait fake news months ago. The guy makes 10 minute videos every day that are nothing but fluff.

@hayhor clickbait yes, but he groups all of the info in one place, hence I don't need to go digging everywhere for it.

    WELL...yes.

But come on, OP, you signed up for a game that was free to play unless you buy skins that cost the price of a whole video game each, what do you expect?

Now, as mentioned, yeah, sure they care about the game.  What you have to realize (and is legitimate to complain about but still understand) is that as a product, this one is MONEY FIRST, or it would not have been released in a freemium format.  Freemium is a bait and in the end, is designed to ratchet more money out of gamers net, even if a few don't pay that much or nothing to play.  It wouldn't be that business model otherwise.  Game companies who do not have as big an agenda (but still have an agenda) for $$$ do not release in a freemium format.

Second, it isn't that they don't care, it is that they make bad decisions.  Right now, frankly, Apex and Respawn seem smitten with the tiny percentage of esports fans, Pro team members and streamers, than they do the greater community that plays their game, i.e. regular people.  Many companies have made this mistake in the past, and I doubt it will go away anytime soon completely.  But you should know this by now too.  No, you don't get to play games like the ones they do in ALGS, meaning no, you don't get to have games that are that much fun even if you and your mates don't have the same skill level.  You get to suffer, particularly if you don't queue with a full team, with a much more garbage result in the game.

The real question is do you think it is worth it for you, and if not, it is quite evident that Respawn takes too long to change, even when they do for the better.  I'd move on, or do what I do, which is play a lot less. I only play when it's fun, I've ditched Ranked completely because it sucks now, and I'm not suffering over Respawn's terrible decisions.  If they want me to be different, then you know, they should change their game for the better, but I owe them nothing.

You're the consumer, you should make decisions appropriate to that and uh, this game is far from the only BR game out there, let alone the only game that (was) super fun.

@KelRiever Well, ok. But just because a game is free doesn't mean it has to be neglected or bad. "Free" only means "pay us later when you find something in the store you like". Point is as a product it should be near flawless if they're putting it out, that's the expectation. It's not really his fault for spending money on it and expecting it to work correctly.

Agree 100% with the rest though.

No matter what we do or don't think, microtransaction whales are largely gonna carry this product. Voting with money is usually negated by them. Sure, the court of public opinion is still valuable, but unless the game is breaking enough to stop whales and the people who are in the top 50% of active spend, I don't expect much roadmap/development deviation.

    1. I'm having a hard time believing that I started playing again after playing from launch up to season 3 previously. Made a new account on pc as I came from ps4 and tried rank off the bat. Had my few rookie bot matches then every rookie ranked game after I'm getting slammed by people with over 5k kills rank 500 the whole bag. I've won 5 matches and just hit level 30 but it's like im constantly playing a way higher bracket of matches then i should be after having just started at the bottom. Every team I get is for most part a pair of window lickers and I'm not a pro by any means, while everyone else I vs knows how to play the game well. I think the games in a trash state compared to when I used to play the skill gap wasn't as bad as this in games. There's no fun in it now because the lobby's are time based match making so you get slapped with who ever is available  rather then skill based matchmaking cause the skill of the groups im vsing don't reflect the tiers by a long shot

@Cheese9Man I don't think you're being fair to them. The game is going through a huge transition. I sort of view it as season 3 when WE was released. I'm hoping with some future updates the RP system is improved and we get a good BR experience out of it + an RP system that works better.

The comments about them being greedy. Come on, some of the Epic skins look better than the legendary skins. You can get the BP for what? $10 or so. Most other games I have played the BP system was $20-30+.. The BP is cheap for all the premium content you get. You also get crafting mats and the BP pays for itself.

Now toss in that if you've played the game since release and done every challenge/event you will have opened 500 packs (enough for a heirloom or mythic skin). Toss in all the awesome content you could get from opening 500 packs.

@DarthValtrexI was referring to your statement about EA and not Respawn. "Everything I have seen from EA tells me they want to and try to provide us with what we want as gamers, while still staying to true to their vision of what they want the game to be." A lot of former EA devs have said that the vision of some of the games has been drastically changed because of corporate meddling. Let's not forget how they killed Titanfall 2 by releasing it between Battlefield and Call of Duty because they didn't believe in the product. It only got a resurgence due to good word of mouth.

@DarthValtrex This game has been in a transition phase ever since S3 lmao. And you're talking like the BP is a great thing. Ok yeah you get some good stuff but the majority of it is just average skins or trackers. We've been asking for an improved store (one week rotations are just too long) but still nothing from that. Everyone likes Control yet for some unknown reason they keep removing it, maybe because this way they can reintroduce it back every event so they don't have to think about actual NEW ltms? Or how about the S13 "map" update where basically it was a collection event takeover (a seasonal update should make big changes to the map, not a small one)? Or let's talk how some game breaking bugs are still not fixed (Loba's q, Newcastle's ult disappearing, Valk ult teleport and I could keep going on). Let's be honest here, this game could be so much better after 3 years but yet there's so much that needs to be addressed.

    Oof. 👀

Not really EA related anymore but this is the current corporate mindset in most of these publishers.
