Re: Season 8 map update discussion

@Popa2caps I can answer your questions:

1) People like maps. Different maps means different experiences and different playstyles

2) This one is easy so I’ll let you think about this one yourself with a little food for thought: When playing a game, would you rather play it at 55 or 60 fps fixed?
If for whatever reason you’ll say that’s not the same, another one; When watching an epic movie, would you rather have an after-credits section or not?

3) They’re likely trying to find the right balance and are not vocal about it. We already know they’re working (actually coding and designing) stuff past S11 so it’s no stretch to think they’re also testing ‘new’ guns or trying to find the magic code to have stable lobbies and such.

(Didn’t read further than your nr. 3)

Number 2 has me all lost. Could you use another analogy by chance?

Also, I'm currently playing Battlefield 4 on Xbox (Series X ) what an amazing game it turned out to be. So my replies might have a huge delay.

@Popa2caps Certainly. Lets use draw distance (distance a computer renders at a time). Let’s say draw distance for everything but ziplines is set at 150 meters. If you ADS or look around, every zipline within 150m will be visible. Every zipline past 150m will either not show up at all or might be ‘fading’ in and out.

You’ll likely not notice it unless you pay attention to that zipline seeing as those things are so narrow. It won’t affect your gameplay per se without seeing them as you know where they are or you don’t, but seeing them helps for more immersion.

Those analogies don't work for me, but I get what you're saying.  I guess it's good for a title to have a backend for some people to appreciate it, even though most won't notice it. For a FPS I do find it honestly odd. I also should have been more clear in my original post, as I was meaning something very different altogether for the 2. part.

Like for example in the SEASON 8 MAP UPDATES - (THE CROSSINGS) section.

"Situated down the length of the river are three ECHO outposts that are set up to survey and test the water supply.".

In my opinion, I would have rather used the resources to come up with new in game items so everyone has the chance to enjoy them, other a select few. To me, There is more lore behind Apex Legends maps then any Final Fantasy game I've played, I find that really odd.

I feel like if I pick up a rock Pathfinder will tell me the history of how it got there. ECHO by the way means (Ecological Cleanup and Hazard Outreach) Someone at EA paid someone at Respawn to come up with that for a First Person Shooter.

    Wish list
I want matchmaking to be enjoyable where people don't feel the need for speed to quit , and I want cheaters to be banned on PC.Is that too much to ask for?

@Popa2caps I get what you’re saying but coming up with new stuff and to implement those take time and resources as well.

It’s easier letting a designer make map alterations than letting coders have to deal with new codes for making things like pathfinder nerding out work.

Also they have to tie in with the overall lore which is broad atm. Start as broad as possible and scope inwards to make for compelling storytelling.

I guess it makes sense Respawn updates in this way. The majority buying skins are really the ones keeping the game alive anyways. I get it's a business. You update for the people who use your product at the end of the day for what they want.

I'm in the same line of work to be honest, so I get what they're doing. To be honest if I had a way with Apex, I could very well ruin the title all together. I remember writing a post on Battlefield forums for it to be more hardcore back in the day with no spotting, no health regen, tanks not able to turn fast, and look what that did, Battlefield 5 disaster.

I still would remove aim assist and fat gas guy from Apex Legends, no joke. I'm a controller user and still want it disabled.
