Dang I was really hoping that the title would be the topic. The clickbait got me. LMAO! I don’t blame smurfs or boosted players. If we’re talking about immature excuses we say to ourselves, I usually blame the map where I’m playing when I get in a tough position usually in SP or KC. Lol.

On the topic itself. You already brought up purposefully deranking players to play on bot lobbies. It’s more of a pick your poison type of situation. My suggestion would be to implement rank demotion but have a limit. Let’s say I’m diamond last split and was demoted to Gold in the current split. Gold would be the lowest rank I can go and the game wouldn’t allow me to go back to silver. You can can be demoted from diamond to plat, or plat to gold but it would stop you from going into silver.

Also, I still think that the RP system should have a major overhaul.

I just blame that I am old and terrible at FPS games.
This is why I stay out of ranked.

Just a small update on the topic of rank demotion. A game designer specifically handling ranked BR commented on the topic. He said that the main argument against demotion is that people will stop playing rank once they’ve reached their desired rank.
He goes on and on responding to different people. I’ll post the tweet here so you guys can read some more of his replies. He got defensive in some the inquiries though.

Yep, that makes sense too. And that surely would be a problem also for those who would keep playing despite the removal of tier protection.

@Cheese9Man That's good the conversation is happening but it won't do anything but allow people to cheat the system more.

People that relegate from plat 4 to gold 1 will just bounce back and forth. The same would happen at d4 to p1.

The reality is if you cannot get out of plat 4, you are not good enough to be a diamond. Stop blaming others.
