Respawn, Olympus is [Admin - removed] unplayable

I play on Xbox. I check my connection to see if anything is amiss. I am running at a clean 170 mbps and ZERO loss with only 28 ping.

I kick on Apex and Worlds Edge is the map of the hour. I go in, get a dub and everything is running clean.

Next map cycle brings on Olympus and straight after the drop everything turns into a sloppy mess. It becomes the Apex Legends slide show.

Enemies are blinking and teleporting everywhere. This is not anything like the losers using servers a half hemisphere away with high ping to use the 'Neo in the Matrix' exploit  'Respawn refuses to acknowledge let alone do anything about.

This has to do with Olympus specifically and the way the mechanics are strained immediately when engaging in battle. When I'm in an open field my ping is at a stable 50 ping, but immediately upon contact. ping shoots up to 75 and I've seen it go over 120. Packet loss is 20 to 40%

I got a long list of grievances with EA and Respawn but I figure this would be a good place to start

  • So according to @hayhor lag, high ping, rubber banding, snapping and shot no reg is something new for the forums. Priceless...

I played for about an hour after the Winter event ended and things seemed to have settled down but it was only an hour. My ping didn't go over 75 on Olympus and anytime I got gakked it was because I was trying to win a fight against 2 purple armored enemies with havocs and spitfires when bringing vanilla armor and an eva 8. We will see how it goes for the rest of the week.

I'm wondering if it has something to do with the event, not playing during the "struggle hours", or if someone from Respawn spilled some Mt Dew on a console and it fixed the issue.

As I stated earlier I got a long laundry list of issues to eventually air out so thank you all for comments and hope the new year brings everyone what they need

I wholeheartedly take my last post back. Not only has the bull$#*% returned, it's back with a fury. Now, when I go to Olympus, the lag is so bad I cant even reload my gun or jump walls and I'm hearing my squadmates say the same thing

Now I got a NEW bug! When I go to test in the firing range, I'm lagging out there and I have another completely different name tag.

I'm sure a Respawn dev will double down on their fanboy appeasing rhetoric saying no that's not true, that's exaggerated, but it's difficult to be dismissive and set up strawman arguments when you got pic and video proof

@CaptWrekAlyfeNo I didnt say that. I said that I've not seen anyone say they have ping issues due to the map change in the rotation. Others here have mentioned the frame rate issues, which could feel like lag and teleporting but it isnt network related in those cases.

I actually saw the firing range name bug first hand when a pro did it live in a stream. Was really weird.

  • OP I don’t know if you play on the base model Xbox (VHS model or Xbox One S) but that’s what I played on for a while and I think the hardware just cannot keep up with the game. I would get constant micro-stutters at least once every 30 seconds which lasted anywhere from a split second to almost a second long and this was very frustrating. Constantly getting the “player prediction error” symbol on top right and ping sometimes spiking for no reason.

Well I was able to get the Series X and it eliminated all those problems so I have to chalk that down to hardware. Obviously other players with terrible connection will teleport but on my end I have pretty much flawless performance for what it’s worth. Unfortunately I just think getting it to run well on base model Xbox is a pipe dream...and I hear what you are saying about Olympus because as soon as I saw it I said there is no way this will run well on Xbox One S lol. I know what you are referring to seems pretty unique but saying if you are on a base Xbox model I would suggest the hardware is an issue

To@MyName1sNotJohn - Perhaps I shoulda been more clear. I play on the Xbox One X. I don't run off 4g or 5g wifi, I hard pipe the ethernet of which I get an average of 170 mbps DL 10 mbps UL times with 20-30 ping. People tell me I should go and upgrade to optical but, JAYZIS.... I don't get these issues on any other MMO's. How hard is it to get a stable connection?

And now that we got the new Pathfinder town takeover event, I can have one match in Olympus that runs clean with no issues, then the next 3 are worse than when I made the initial post during the Winter Train event. It's gone beyond lag, rubber banding and enemy teleporting. I go to reload and nothing takes effect even after the animation. I go to hop a wall and it's like a bad dream where you're moving slow and can't do anything.

There is one thing I noticed and I have not been DC'ing and being bounced to the lobby right when I'm getting good momentum in a match and about to get a DUB as kill leader. I solo queue alot and I meet many random players and a good portion of them concur they've been dealing with issues, maybe not as egregiously expressed but I know I'm not alone.
