I didn't want to necro an older post about it, but has anyone heard any recent rumblings in the Apex world, about any changes to the rink shrink speed, or round duration? Most matches I play these days, there's around 5-7 squads remaining, but the time round 1 is over with. I don't know how much it would effect things, but I feel like the early rounds are just too long, and the ring shrinks awfully slow. I know it won't slow the matches down at all, that's not what I'm getting at. I just feel like it could speed up a bit in the early-game stage, since everyone hot drops and 2/3 of the lobby dies in the first round anyway. I know there have been topics about it and whatnot, but the ones I saw were fairly old, so I wanted to see if there might be any new info regarding this.

@dSKyNafinchin There was an LTM where ring would shrink faster everytime someone would die. They should implement that in pubs tbh, would speed up mid-game for sure.

@dSKyNafinchin People will still hot drop. Just limit the central location POIs to be bad and it lowers the people that go to that POI.

@BaldWraithSimp There was always be closing(I think t was called) too, although that got kinda ridiculous end game.

@dSKyNafinchin If the round times were reduced this would force some people play differently. Especially those who like to loot up 1st before fighting. Some may adapt, but others might get frustrated that they don't have time to find what they need.

@dSKyNafinchin People will still hot drop. Just limit the central location POIs to be bad and it lowers the people that go to that POI.

@hayhor Yea, I feel like they could definitely make some changes to limit the hot dropping. I'm more curious about ring speed, just because of how fast the squads die out (due to hot dropping, mostly). I 100% agree about finding a way to reduce hot drops though, as this would eliminate my position for a faster ring and shorter round durations altogether.

My personal gripe at the moment, is that I don't hot drop. I tend to drop a little farther away, so I can grab a couple guns and hopefully a shield, and then I start rotating toward the zone, looking for fights. I don't waste much time doing this, and head out fairly quickly. Here lately though, with how fast everyone dies in the first round, coupled with the slow ring speed and long round duration, I feel like I'm just running toward the zone the whole match, looking for fights and not really finding them because the few remaining squads are too spread out, because the zone is still so massive.

@BaldWraithSimp I dont think we ever got to actually try that did we? Wasnt it part of the ltm that 3 of the 5 got canceled?

@BaldWraithSimp I completely forgot about that one! Like @hayhor noted though, I feel like that was one of the modes that got cancelled? I can't remember which ones they were. Would definitely be dope to see this added to pubs though. Good call!

@Lord_Scorpion34 Yeah this is exactly my thought. It would just encourage more hot dropping.

Maybe if they identified zone one before the ship started like on warzone.
