New jump pad noise is actually an audio nerf
- 4 years ago
Of all the weapons they could have ported in from TF, I don't really get the CAR. One good thing about the past few seasons has been the new weapons. Volt when there were SMGs lacking, 30-30 and Rampage are fairly unique. The CAR is going to be just another SMG, already the R-99 and Volt fill the gap, the Prowler and Alternator are both unusual in their own ways. Can't see the CAR being another slightly different thing which won't add much, but I suppose we'll see.
Wattson, sigh, I really don't think these buffs are going to change anything. People seem to have short memories that her ult used to always last forever, but for some reason Respawn decided that wasn't a good idea so put it on a timer and then let you put down up to 3, which totally does not matter at low or mid tiers. Shield regen cap is also mostly awful. The one benefit nobody seems to talk about much is what ordinance gets zapped. First off, good on fixing bugs where artillery drops sometimes made it through the zaps. Best thing though is now you can actually be in the protection field and throw grenades out. The old system meant you weren't using grenades yourself.
But the fences...that's the problem. Putting them down faster and crossing through them better makes so nothing difference. Placing them helps a little but the major malfunction of Respawn is to recognize that fences just do not matter. Not close to enough. And they keep on talking about Wattson win rates versus low pick rates as if that isn't just the most major clue as to why their character sucks right now. If you have a character that's good for less than 2% of the people who play that character, guess what? Your character is BAD.These sad discussions go on at all game companies. Overwatch always liked to talk about how Widow was good because there were some people who could use her well. Snore. If a character isn't good at most or all tiers, you aren't doing your job. Nobody argues about Wraith being viable at most tiers, nobody argues about Gibralter good at most tiers, because these characters are designed WELL.
Wattson, Crypto, Rampart (even still, though better): Doghouse.- 4 years ago

I had the same reaction as you. I don't think we really needed a new SMG or even a gun right now. Since S8 we have a new weapon introduced and we could have at least had a break even just for a season. I hope it somehow changes how we choose guns though. Will they just continually add weapons in the carepack as we increase the number of weapons? On the CAR itself, we will have to see how it feels when S11 starts.

@Cheese9Man There are some pretty great weapons I could see being transported in from TF2. Hopefully they keep coming.
Mag grenade launcher? Please? Just so you can use it on people?
- hayhor4 years agoHero@KelRiever CAR is unique for 2 reasons- 1 it takes both heavy and light ammo, meaning you can use any mag too. It also seems to have more horizontal recoil than the other smgs. I like the ammo option because it means if I can't find a mag for one I can use the other.

Short memories, lol. When I started to main Wattson she could put down up to THREE pylons and the did last forever. There is no "then let you put down three" - that's how it was originally.
