@Cro_PitttI was doing more reading on this. They are volunteers. They know they are not being paid. They do this for other perks. When asked about this one of them defending complaining by saying if they didn't someone else would do it because it helps them in other ways. 😬
This would like me asking for payment for helping on this forum.
@hayhor Source?
@Cheese9Man I also would love to play the MW2 campaign, Warzone and the multiplayer do not attract me at all lol. If they made a remake of the old Mw2 multiplayer i'd play it every day lmao.
- hayhor3 years agoHero@Cro_Pittt They are in your link. One guy even said he was told to do it for free and quit doing it. They've all been told that. It isn't like they were told they'd get paid and suddenly were not, which is the story a lot of sites are running with. Clickbait if I ever saw it.

I mean, prove me wrong? But like I said many times, your PRO scene, and esports exist because of average players, not the other way around. So when you screw your game up, you screw up your pro scene. And, yes, your pros will leave you when your average players do. This is why comments about the new Ranked system like Hal's grate like nails on a chalkboard, and where pro ego shoots themselves in the foot.
Consistenly, Apex has dropped in Twitch ratings, since the ranked rework. Ranked was already busted, but the solution of listening to the top 1 % of the player base in their ivory tower on how to fix it...ended up breaking it way worse. Now people are more miserable playing ranked and so more have given up on it, and less therefore are watching Apex Twitch streams. That's my theory at least. And again, it isn't like Overwatch drop, we're talking like top 5-6 to only top 10.
BUT, that's a big relative drop. And, that doesn't bankrupt people but that does mean money somewhere for streamers. I would imagine, and this is my speculation, that the drop in popularity for things like ranked play affecting esports and desire to watch pros play from youtube to streaming, does impact the bottom line enough.
If Respawn is ornery about their changes, obstinate in their approach, slow to correct their clear mistakes, this is where it shows. Gold Shield obsessions, basically red herring problems, also. As potentially lucrative as esports are, like any entertainment industry, it has to be vulnerable to ratings. My guess is that you can't afford to pay the pro scene as much if you're worried about your ratings? Maybe that's the takeaway.
And the benefit of keeping all your ratings behind curtains by the way. Respawn can spin any story they want, see? But it can't be all amazing in the Land of Oz with the Twitch standing drop, I think this is at least possibly related.
- hayhor3 years agoHero@KelRiever This isn't about paying pros. It's about volunteer casters and admins whining about farming themselves out for free.

Professional Overwatch is hardly a standard to look up to. OWL bleeds money like crazy. Look up how much money OWL players are earning (most are at the league minimum of $50K) and their working conditions. Let alone the "salaries" paid to Contenders players and staff and their working conditions. Esports in general aren't quite the cash cow some people like to imagine.
Not to say that these people do not deserve more than they are getting. Just looking at the reality.

I don’t wanna make a new thread so I’m just gonna say it here. TLDR: Faze was invited to the ALGS directly without competing in the qualifiers. I’m with Sweet here that all of the teams should go through the same process.
- hayhor3 years agoHero@Cheese9Man Agreed. The invites should be to the top finishes in the last pro league. Everyone else has to qualify. The teams in pro league who finished close to the auto qual teams could skip the early rounds of qualifiying.
You ever watched a good team in the basic qualifying? It's like a super pred team in pubs. I've seen Shiv do it and it really shows the difference in levels.
