Stop teasing us that Ash is Dr. Reid and confirm it!!! :(
For those of you who don't know, the Apex Legends Lore community has speculated ever since we first met Dr. Reid, that she is the human form of Ash, you know, the Sim mercenary who runs the Arenas, and who you also get to squish in TF2's campaign :D
Dr. Reid was formerly Horizon's assistant, until she betrayed her (as we saw in the "Promise" cinematic). Dr. Reid is also one of Pathfinder's creators as a member of "the group" that worked on Project: Iris, and happened to betray and kill his other ones... but died in the process.
Why do we think Dr. Reid = Ash?
At the end of the Broken Ghost quest, Ash says several inexplicable things, seemingly pulled randomly from her memories:
"Just a wee bit of betrayal before breakfast, eh, dearie?" (imitating Horizon's Scottish dialect, and also directly quoting her from an audio transmission)
"X equals the temperature of the negative space, NOT the specimen itself." (said by Dr. Lillian Peck, the creator of Olympus, in the letter that invited Horizon and Dr. Reid to Olympus to help solve the energy crisis)
"Duardo! Darion! Darion! Duardo!" (referring to Darion Che and Duardo Silva, the fathers of Lifeline and Octane, who would play rambunctiously in Peck Labs as children. Dr. Reid was the head of Peck Labs for a short time)
"Fail-safe, fail-safe... who's got the fail-safe?" (said by Dr. Anastasia Oliveira as a taunt to Reid, who failed to prevent Pathfinder - the fail-safe implemented just in case Reid did betray the group, deactivate the phase runner and kill her cohorts)
"All roads lead to Branthium." (said by Prof. Milly Delgado, one of the members of the group)
"Who doesn't like ice cream? Every kid likes ice cream." (Pathfinder's first words, Dr. Reid happened to be present when he booted up.)
These all connect Ash to Dr. Reid, and also:
- In the First Ship/Season 6 quest, Blisk tells Ash that an old friend of hers is back. With Horizon resurfacing at almost the same time, it's likely he was referring to her.
- In the Season 9 teaser, "Decrypt the Passcode", if you used Horizon Ash would say "Do you think you have what it takes to impress me, dearie?" instead of "Do you think you have what it takes to impress me, Legend?" to the other Legends
- Ash has some interactions with Horizon in Arenas: "You've won. I wonder if you can reproduce these results." "We have a winner. Fascinating. Your skills are... timeless." "You are the winner. It seems... fieldwork suits you." All of these voice lines are directed at Horizon when she wins an Arenas game.
And the most obvious one, Dr. Reid's first name is ASHLEIGH. Respawn stop teasing us and CONFIRM it 😢😢
