Well, I may have broken the record of holding a banner 🙂.
We landed in The Tree, and started looting and exploring the area. As there were no enemies nearby, i took the time to play with Crypto's drone a little. We only realized that the next ring is pretty far, around Epicenter - Refinery areas, but the big surprise came when the ring actually started closing like 50m ahead of us, catching us all outside all of a sudden. My teammates had very few syringes and soon Lifeline dropped behind me, while Pathfinder dropped a few hundred meters in front of me. Luckily, I had a bit more meds, I reached Pathfinder to revive him then used the drone to get Lifeline's banner laying on her deathbox 210 m behind. When Pathfinder, I realized there's no chance for any of us to make it if I share my remaining meds with Path, so I had to let him die and kept running and opening crates along the way in hope to find more health. Somehow, I made it to Capitol City with 15 health left anda bout 20 seconds left of round 2, only to discover there were enemies left and the right, which, of course, started shooting at me. Ran like a chicken and escaped literally one shot away from death, then had to sneak past some crazy battles all the way to refinery, where I eventually found more syringes to my health back and an unscratched blue armor, then went for the last available beacon to finally respawn that poor and patient Lifeline. Needless to say that she got fried right before grabbing any armor or weapon, sending her player right back to the spectator seat to watch a few more painful minutes of me trying to scratch a full squad armed and armored to the teeth.
It was a pretty fun challenge to do all that running simulator to save the teammates and the match, but I'm sure Lifeline's player stayed mostly because of fearing the leaver penalty. He would've certainly left way sooner if given the opportunity. Thing is, we weren't that far from winning the game, which could've made a significant difference if this would've been a high rank match. I think the best solution for situations like this one would be for me to have the possibility to free that teammate from the burden of a penalty, allowing him to leave when he can't be brought back safely or letting him take the penalty if he doesn't care about ruining your game. The players still in the fight are more able to * the situation and take the appropriate actions than the game itself, that's why it's not OK how player penalty gets applied now.
I've just incurred a 20 minute penalty and I have to say I'm quite angry.
It's shocking to me that there is no fail-safe along the lines of "you still have teammates alive - are you sure you still want to quit?" or whatever.
The pop-up message when you're downed must be removed or changed significantly (when you're downed a pop-up instantly appears saying "awaiting recovery" accompanied by a sound).
I don't want to quit games, and never have. But, when I'm downed, and there's a 'ping' sound accompanied by a giant green message in the middle of my screen my instant reaction is to quit. I don't know why that is and I'm not going to speculate but it when it's combined with a penalty for leaving it becomes a major liability.
This stuff needs sorting out immediately before players starting getting long-term bans.

Currently the last "Penalty" I incurred was 10 minutes. It is the first one I noticed however, primarily because I got disconnected in a match yesterday with code:leaf error. While disconnects are better they are not gone. If you are not getting disconnected good for you, but the problem is still happening. I have commented and started threads over the disconnects going back to February, still should not be an issue going into October. Just saying, fix the game.
Anyways off topic after my disconnect I logged back into Apex to see the ban for 10 minutes and the after game report stating I lost 48 RP(24 entry and 24 for early leaving) due to abandoning my team with a message about how it is a team game. FIne. Penalize me for your broken game. Ranked is not where I will be playing for the next week or so and then off to COD. I came back after a month off played a few games in season 3 and liked the new map and think this would be a great season. Bought the the battlepass and first game Code:Leaf halfway through the game running through capitol city. Game was lagging pretty hard right before disconnect. Since I get the same responses my PS4 is hardwired to my network with 360 down and 150 up, no other game gives me any issues in the connection whatsoever.
My point is/was in all of the earlier conversations regarding leaver penalty if they(EA/Respawn) cannot figure out a way to enforce a leaver penalty that enforces based upon non disconnects it is pointless. Playing non-ranked games I have 1 out of 50 games where I might see a dc issue. In ranked it seems pretty common. Also solo queing in ranked there are multiple solo and duo matches happening. I have made some new friends to play in the last week and we are running in regular and just skipping ranked as of now.
BTW the first "leaver penalty" I incurred must have been on an earlier DC where after I got to the title screen I just shut down APex and went and played something else.
Honestly love this game but the technical issues that they are not sorting out are killing any love of the game I might still have. Too bad.
