Glass? That could seriously hurt someone!
If the glass wasn't dangerous enough, they could always just slap it into some kind of weapon. Or put electricity on it.
It doesn't really have to be dangerous though, like Pathfinder's gloves. They aren't exactly the most practical or useful weapons, but it's still an heirloom.
