@KelRiever I get the feeling that the Titanfall universe is a post-human setting, similar to Nova Praxis or Eclipse Phase (RPGs) or Altered Carbon (book and Netflix show).
We're not playing the original Legends. They are too valuable to the games (and thus the Syndicate). They are forked copies uploaded to clone or robotic copies. Which also explains the respawning.
Nothing else makes sense.

I don't keep up with lore stuff really, so maybe this is already known. Are these legends cloned and fighting the same games over and over, or is the conceit that they are here competing to the death this one time?

I don't think they're supposed to be clones but uh, yeah, how do they keep coming back again and again? Hmmn?

I do. But that nonsense is a Fortnite thing. Not boxes but exploding in loot. Which actually still makes more sense though not much.
Maybe they aren’t clones but life size action figures.
