The official Matchmaking blog post

My interpretation of that blog post:

1) We lump the playerbase into 4 categories: Newb, Noob, Low 40%, High 40% i.e. matching is basically random unless in their 'special needs player' category. God help you if at the bottom of their 40% buckets.

2) They realised playerbase shrinks because nobody recruits friends to play Apex - cause they get roflstomped unless new person is already godtier in other fps's (it's too late, the only people I'd recommend to play Apex uninstalled forever after like... 10 games of being roflstomped alongside me~~ :D)

3) They deliberately created OP squads in ranked (group the best players, let them stomp everyone else so if there's high ranks in your lobby they dont even need premades, matchmaker will do it for you!)

4) Their focus is on 'creating a sense of progression and achievement" to get money from the playerbase, not enough people doing battlepass levels / buying heirlooms = panik qik fix teh things like matching!

5) Unless this drives revenue in your region, enjoy the old *.

6) We'll make important changes like matchmaking via stealth changes

@hayhor Yeah we know, but Respawn said that in ranked we were already put against similar skilled players so, I wanted to show that it's not true 😉.

whether the changes to MM have rolled out yet or not does not matter because in ranked play Plat players and above are not supposed to be able and are not allowed actually to play more than one tier below their rank. So plats are relegated to at most playing vs golds and above. They should not at all be found in a bronze lobby.

While those MM-changes might be okay for public matches - they are most definitely not for ranked...!

EU-servers are simply unplayable right now for anybody with a skill level below Masters, because you get literally all Elo's in one lobby.

Yes I know that sometimes gold ranked players would have to deal with the occasional diamond or master player, things happen and it was an occasional occurrence.

Right now the problem is not that it is occasional but rather that it is persistent and often.

Yes the new MM does touch on both PUBS and RANKED it still is stated in ranked play that Plat and above can only team up with and ply vs players at most one rank below their rank.

With that in mind the skill level is out the window per say because the rank should be the overriding factor where players ply vs similarly ranked players, predator players is not in any shape way or form similar in rank or skill to a bronze player unless that bronze player was a Predator ranked player in the past.

I have never had the time to grind past gold, I think if I did I could make plat but would be hard stuck there, I neither have the skills or the time to be better than that and should never ever see a Pred ranked player in my lobby nor should any one in the same situation as me. Especially since EA/Respawn states this as part of what ranked play is.

A team of D2's will invariably roll a bronze, silver and possibly even a gold lobby. Look at what Timmy did to bronze silver and gold lobbies when he solo'd Bronze to Pred. Its not fun or fair for lower skilled and or ranked players to get rolled like that, and prob is not so fun for the skilled player as well.

I think that for at least Rank, a player should never have rank decay that is more than 1 rank below their max achieved rank ever. Preds/Master Rank should never decay lower than D4, D1 never below Plat 4 etc. 

Can you please explain this, this is silver lobby guests, HOW is this possible!? A full stack of predators...current predators.

I would be flattered if my 1.5kd and silver rank has somehow skill matched to 4 pred lobbies on the trot (last night) but the much more logical conclusion is that respawn have completely borked it, i mean * it up as badly as they possibly could becuase out of seven matches in total champion squad was not less than full diamond, if respawn think that is in ANY way fair to lower rank players they can literally insert this game (sans lube) where the sun doesnt shine

*EDIT* They DEFINITELY can, just been greased by pred no 2, 6, and 10 champ squad. I hope it gives them a massive sense of achievement beaming bronzes!

12 games now and 10 have been pred squads, christ i didnt see this many when i was diamond, why is nobody else kicking off about this absolute farce??????

The ranked point system never made sense especially with regular resets - except to give top players a few weeks of chill as they farm lobby's, but using a skill based matching system within their 'ranked' points system just makes the joke of it even more obvious.

"Mr Respawn, I'm gold but I'm being put in lobby's with preds!! ☹️"

"Well, we calculated you're ok to fight preds"

"But Mr Respawn, I'm only gold?"

"YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH TO FIGHT PREDS"

"Because our calculation is more accurate than our tank points? I guess? Maybe?!?"

"So... are ranked points  worth anything?

For what it’s worth, i’m Gold 2 at the moment, played for 3 hrs since the rank split, and have won a few games in said 3 hrs. Matched with very similar teammates, and on par enemy squads.

It would be helpful if you guys shared which server you’re playing on. I’m in Canada, play on the NY server, and occasionally on the Dallas server.

I honestly can’t complain about the MM, it’s been good to me so far. 

I put it another post yesterday about the fact that I am in silver 2/1 and died to a team that had a diamond and 27th ranked pred who went on to win. Literally just happened to me again. Me and my fellow silver, random team mates got rolled by a 655 Pred and diamond 1. They also had a gold 4 but that is reasonable. Only one rank difference so that’s not an issue. However, why have I not once had a team mate that was higher than me yet several games I’ve been killed by plats and diamonds in the last 2 days? Also I’m in England so playing on London/EU servers.

It does make you wonder why they are willing to sacrifice people’s enjoyment of a game when that is supposed to be what it’s all about.

@hayhorIm in UK so nearest server to me. Its beyond a joke now, the preds must be laughing their * off, 3 of the top ten players in the entire world beaming on bronze and silver........ my "skill" level does NOTHING to suggest i should be playing anyone higher than plat or diamond respawn have absolutely tanked match making, its like a sick joke.
I literally cannot express my disbelief at how bad it is.

Oh if anyone thinks im not at all being truthful please feel free to look up my games (same in game nick).

*edit* I really do think respawn need to open a dialogue here and actually admit what a catastrophic mistake they have made, EU ranked is trash, they have borked it worse than anything they have ever messed up before. I will NOT be there guinea pig and bleed ranks, its not a slight mistake, its not a small error, its a stinker.

Respawn made some bad choices over the time. But this one takes the cake!

Have they changed squad matchmaking again?

I played about 15 rounds last night and in 8 of them, my two squadmates were downed in less than 1 second of gunfire and did close to 0 damage. All 16 of them would have had a combined damage of under 100. The worst squadmates I have ever had. It wasn't like this last week or the week before.

@aisthebestletterNot from what I've seen, especially for premade parties of 2 playing Trios.

Taking the highest skill rated player in that duo, matching them with a random (often lower skilled for some reason), and feeding them to premade Diamond/Masters trios is absolutely horrific. Even if your random is higher skilled, I have almost never seen them be able to carry that duo against premade trios.

My brother and I do the duo in trios thing and it is a horrible experience. Totaly ruins our attempts to play this game together and often gets us ticked off at the game &/or ticked off at each other. We'll disband and play solo and instantly have better matches, too.

I had a win rate of 8.5% this season until last week. Now I am on about a 100 game losing streak. Wtf is going on. 

Nowhere I have found a slightest information about that they will take the team composition into the consideration for matchmaking.

This means that I (a support legend) Loba will be matched with other support legends to artificially prolong the game.

I am seeing this currently so I guess it will the same or worse.
