The spitfire buff was not necessary and probably not the greatest move.

The gun takes absolutely no skill to use, people are just running around with it spraying bullets in hip fire all over the place. I'd rather have the OP mastiff back in the game than this spitfire.

Numerous lobbies are filled with squads that have 2-3 spitfires, with a never ending spray of bullets being sent your way.

It's made snipers basically useless. Snipers used to be fairly effective in that range that was some place between long and mid range. Now you can't even use them there, try and peak to line up a shot? You'll get a never ending spray of bullets sent at you. From a gun that has next to no recoil and a magazine that's massive.

If the want to keep the buff, boost the recoil and substantially. Never ending bullet spray should have some expense..

You are dying to it more, because more people are using it now, not because its so much broken than it was before or so.

Its the same gun, with + 1 damage added, no more, no less.

Again more people are using it, cause they think its super upper duper god tier now, and thats why you are dying more to it.

It was always a solid weapon, that was created with the idea to help the newbies with the large mag.

Saying all that, the weapon has it downsides.

Terrible Iron sight, ADS speed is terrible, Firing rate its slower than its competition. Not going to talk about reload speed, cause you don`t need that with the huge mag, same with the weapon switch, tho its another drawback to the weapon.

Recoil is not nonexistent, its actually make you miss, but you pretty much won`t know it, cause it have so many bullets. :D
    Same with hipfiring recoil.

What i don`t like is the 2x Headshot damage, and maybe they should reduce this, and bring it back to 18 damage per round.

Its still going to be a solid pick for whoever like this type of weapon.

I played for few days and to be fair i don`t remember dying much to it.

I still prefer and always switch to R301, Flatline, R99 and Volt.

Still you need to know how to play against it.

I remember back in the day where Havoc was really strong and the feedback i get against that weapon was to 100% not fight against it in a open fight, esp in close distance. Right now its kinda depend for the Spitfire too. In a medium distance if i can call it like that, unless you can down the target with 1 Mag(not going to happen most of the time, even if have good aim), unless of course he really have terrible strafing pattern or you have god god tier aim, you should just look for a cover or take some kind of advantage, otherwise not worth fight it, you will lose most of the gun fights in that range if you are equal or close to in terms of skill.

  • @DarthValtrex how about if you search a cover before fighting a spitfire team, its much easier.
In the open field you are only dead meat fighting a guy with a spitfire.
On the other hand if they are so close to you, punch him...he may be firing at you but he will miss.
Take a shotgun with you, or a flatline or another spitfire to have a good chance against another spitfire user. Heavy weapons are the most effective way against another heavy weapon.

I also prefer the spitfire over all heavy ammo weapons now, well till the Prowler comes back. Spitfire and a R99/Volt or a Shotgun and you are ready for everything...
Like it when they gat hammered with haeavy ammo and can't run away that fast :D

only reason why I'll ever run the spitfire is because it's part of rampart's passive. otherwise if I'm not using her, than I'll never pick up a spitty or any lmg

@DarthValtrex  Pre buff your description was accurate, but the OG spitfire was actually a monster, it got nerfed pretty early on lol.

I do think that the spitfire should be a powerful suppression weapon, along with every other LMG, I just find the way respawn go about nerfs/buffs pretty frustrating at times lol. 😛

All of the evidence points to one agenda:

Improve the experience for the casual player. Buffing an already easy to use gun is just another example of this. Cater to the largest player group and maximize your profit margins.

@Axs5626Sxa5001  Exactly this, look at cod:CW.

LMG'S are king lol. Literally every best play is some genius holding down his trigger 2 hit killing everything in sight with no need for recoil control or any real form of skill lol.

@MandatoryIDtagAnd this is why I continue to create threads about SBMM— because it is ANOTHER method of catering to the larger group at the expense of one group. What makes it egregious is that the smaller group (the more skilled players) have done nothing wrong. And yet they get the short end of the stick.

These companies like to pride themselves on “increasing justice”, but the current matchmaking genuinely punishes players for being skilled. The casual player’s experience matters; they should be winning a certain amount to ensure they are enjoying themselves— but I have to lose MORE than casual players because I only play the top 1%. That notion sucks.

@DarthValtrex Can't the Devo counteract it some? I know it has a harder recoil but if you can control it has a better fire rate so most of the time you can down them before they do.
