This LAG is UNPLAYABLE
Seriously 2 nights in a row now. Teleporting backwards and forwards. Time travel. Stuck on spot. And when that ain't happening you're getting downed before you been shot or any vast array of weird c...
I have similar issues every few nights. Game is virtually unplayable. Here's what I've trouble shooted.
Xbox
Local server runs in SLC
Latency: 32ms
Packet loss: 2-4
NAT TYPE Checked and found open
Speed test ran and 100-180mbps
Playing on hardline cat5 ethernet
On one occasion I did discover that my ISP may have been throttling my speed but even testing results since that was resolved verifies infrequent severe prediction errors. Seems like its gotta be on server side.
Yes sometimes is closer to high traffic times like on patch days or LTE updates and weekends. But it still also happens frequently when none of those things are a factor.
@TheTrafficKing Hey man.
So just to confirm your Prediction error issues are sporadic right?
When it occurs have you tried the basic trouble shooting steps, such as a cold reset of your xbox, resetting your router etc?
If not its likely just an external issue, packets are inevitably lost on route to your router, all we can do is minimise the issue at our end, with ethernet cables etc. x.x
I get the odd lagging game, but not too often - 13ms ping, 0% loss.
It's an extra challenge. Somehow I managed to down a teleporting Crypto yesterday with a Mastive.
Can you switch to a wired connection or is your router too far away?
I am going to give advice to anyone playing on wifi, put your console on the 2.4ghz setting, 5ghz is faster but god forbid a wall is in the way, absolutely destroys the signal whereas 2.4 penetrates walls way better and range is much more too, you don't need 5 for gaming anyway.
"The 2.4 GHz band provides coverage at a longer range but transmits data at slower speeds. The 5 GHz band provides less coverage but transmits data at faster speeds. ... However, higher frequencies allow data to be transmitted faster than lower frequencies, so the 5 GHz band allows you to upload and download files faster."
ISP external or Respawn external?
I only experience these prediction errors and frame rate reduction when playing Apex. I never play without my CAT5 ethernet cable as a result now because its absolutely stupid trying to play on Wi-Fi in my case. I dont trust the game to play as it should but even with the cable it still has nights that are just unplayable. At least on those nights I know its not me and shut it off.
@TheTrafficKing Mostly from the Apex servers I would think, you do lose packets naturally along the way anyway, but it wouldn't be as impactful as what you're saying.
I honestly can't suggest a proper solution if that's the case unfortunately, there's been a number of reports on this issue lately. I'm wondering if its an issue that's occurred with the recent September Soireé event as this seems to be when most of the complaints appeared.

You seem to have some insider knowledge. Do you know if they will ever actually try to resolve the horrifically bad net code design or improve their server tick rates?
Or better yet do you know if they are even aware and consider it a legitimate issue?
