Train, skill level and leaving

Train mode shows very quickly how many low skilled players there truly are.  It's nice compared to looting with them only to find it out in our first fight.  Needs a leaving penalty.  For some reason, people just can't finish the game...probably back to the low skilled payer issue again.

I agree with the leaving penalty, but what I don’t get is when apex decides to ban people for 2 weeks from the game,  just for leaving a match in ranked like are you serious? I can understand 3- 4 hours maybe even a day, BUT TWO WEEKS? And Missing out on the holo day event and also wasting the last two weeks there is for the battle pass, this makes me never want to play again!! if they really wanted players to stop leaving the matches they would add a leaving penalty to pubs ,  and at the most make a 10 minute ban to get it through people’s head not to leave, EA Just  wants to make it difficult to play the game I really feel like at this point they’re just playing with everyone’s emotions and draining money and precious time, they just want to * everything up for themselves!!

" Just wants to make it difficult to play the game"

If anything, they're making it easier for people to understand that quitting a match and leaving your s mates to fend for themselves will have its repercussions. Casual and events are a different story, but should also include some type of penalty for quitting mid game. If there was any kind of " I need to quit" option, where s mates could agree or disagree, that would be great. But there isn't...life goes on... or at least the games go on for us who don't quit on our s mates

@hhnbbfggty66Agree. I’m having a blast as well. This mode allows a lot of combat time and that’s very enjoyable.

People seemingly don’t know how SBMM works. It’s basically what you state. Lower skilled are in same game as higher skilled so there’s an average skill lvl.

If done effectively every team should have a certain degree of skill. Lets say we nummerize skill and you have someone at a 5 and two at 8. The mean score of the team would be 7. The SBMM should put other teams around that mark up against you, but if you put premades in the the mix and lucky-streakers, you get a good vs bad setting.

So it’s not that same skilled ppl go against exactly the same skilled, like alot of ppl think, cause there’d be too many variables to calculate who’d go where.

  • @Koochi-Q  see that was my understanding, but when playing with rando's and it sticks me with a level 6 and a 14,  meanwhile I see a champion squad where all 3 players are roughly at my skill level.

I'm not complaining the odds are stacked against me, as i welcome the challenge, it makes me a better player.

I'm just not sure where the SBMM would be coming into play in that scenario as it's just taken 2 extremely new players and thrown them in a lobby where they're going to be completely out of their depth.

@MandatoryIDtagYea, this is a marginal error in my theory for which I can’t account actually. See, if the lobby is filled with premades, then I can only assume the system needs to even it out and put new players or less skilled with less skilled, but this is likely rarely the case.

So either the system isn’t that good at fixing up a good balance for 60 ppl (cause in TF2 the teams were pretty much always same skill lvl, in my eyes) or the champion squad was just lucky in getting seemingly good players all together or some unknown reason. As I do not know the absolute specifics of criteria for SBMM in this game, I can’t provide a 100% accurate reasoning.

  • @Koochi-Q  I've come to the conclusion it factors in match performance as well, won 3 consecutive games last night,  the following 3 were possibly the sweatiest matches i've played in a long time.

They were fun but i mean damn...my squad had like 0 margin for error, the level of focus required to consistently play like that gets exhausting after a while haha.

@MandatoryIDtag Yea I knew last played matches was a factor. Thats why I mentioned lucky streakers. Cause playing badly for few matches gets you in different lobbies as well.
  • Example of this game's SBMM at work. Played for the last hour or hour and a half. Wanted to do 3 easy dailies, found out dailies can't be done in LTMs. So did 2 normal matches, first came in top 5 and second top 3, but finished the dailies, so wanted to get to 50 apex packs (had 48) so I figured a couple of games...

I won train 4 times in a row, all with 800-1500 dmg, okay no big whoop. Teammates also did anywhere from 500-1600. Suddenly I came in a game with a predator and a diamondor... (made it work :P). So the diamondor keeps dying fairly quickly while the predator survives, I die and observe him... meh nothing special. Nothing that would make me believe he's a real predator. So we lose... not even 1 single round won. Diamondor 400 dmg, me and predator in the 700's.

Aaaannnddd... there we go, 3 games after eachother all of a sudden low lvl ppl who don't know what they're doing. At least in all 3 teams 1 teammate kept dying pretty quickly and I'm like "really game? I win couple times in a row, get a 'high skill' team, lose and suddenly you put me in teams where the average lvl of my teammates was around high 20's or early 30's?! What kind of injustice is this".

In one team a guy didn't even know that he had endless health/shield cause we were capturing and there was likely only 1 person still somewhere but the guy stayed at 40 health for like 1 minute... was amusing to see actually, especially after me saying that he had endless health/shield he kept running around the train with basically 1 wingman bullet health...
  • @Koochi-Q  yup lmao, i had an octane who was at least 300m from the train  for a majority of the game....luckily my pathfinder was an absolute machine (no pun intended xD)

We had about 26 kills between the two of us(meanwhile octanes sat on 81 damage or something), by the time we got the win.

Next game was near impossible, melted the moment i landed in every round.
