Transitioning from Valorant to Apex

Hello! I've been playing Valorant (MAINS: Jett, Killjoy, Cypher, Fade, Omen, Astra) since 2022, I believe, and have achieved a peak rank of Gold in my time of playing (it's not that high, I know). Valorant is the first FPS shooter I've ever actually played and I want to try something new because the game gets boring if you play it long enough without any friends and I've been looking at Apex for a few months now. I'm wondering if a casual Val player like me will struggle to make a transition from a CSGO copy (Valorant) to a BR game like Apex, and if you could, please let me know what kind of characters would be best for my play style: I play a lot of duelists in Val as I like to frag out a lot, but I'm also a pretty flexible player, I'm able to support and anchor certain areas within a map pretty well on sentinel and smokes agents, this is the kind of play style I don't want to distance myself from even in Apex if I ever do play the game. I wanna hear feedback from Apex's community itself. Thank you and Happy New Year!

  • First up, the movement speed of Apex is faster than Valorant, but at least you're not coming from something at walking pace like Overwatch.

Play Mixtape first to get a feel of a Legend before diving into BR. The legends you prefer will depend on your favoured play style. I like to be aggressive but not in-your-face fighting, so I mainly play Fuse and Ballistic.

I'd break the styles down as follows:

I Do Ma Own Thang: Alter, Ash (ish), Bangalore, Mirage, Revenant (ish).

Aggressive: Ballistic, Fuse, Mad Maggie, Rampart.

Team Player: Bloodhound, Catalyst, Conduit, Crypto, Gibraltar, Lifeline, Loba (ish), Newcastle, Seer.

    Camper: Caustic, Wattson.

Oh look I can fly: Horizon, Valkyrie, Lifeline (ish).

Oh look I can run away: Octane, Vantage, Pathfinder, Wraith, Loba (ish), Revenant (ish), Ash (ish).

Just my opinion, others will have equally valid ones.

  • @badibat4 Oh I should say learning the guns is more crucial than learning the legends. There are 30 (?) of them and they all have their own 'feel'.

I'll back up what @FuseDLuffy said, but with an exception:

Don't start in mixtape. If you expose yourself to that many cheaters right out of the gate then you won't just walk away from this game. You'll run. If you feel you need some warm up then spend some time in the firing range and in bot royale. Then go straight into trios. Save ranked for later if you're the type to chase a rank.

And I'm not really sure why, but I read your post and thought, "Fuse. This guy is a Fuse." Try Fuse.
  • @badibat4 Do not play until the relic event ends. This game is unplayable for weaker and mid-level players during this event.
