VK-47

Does anyone happen to know what the "VK-47" stands for? Is it a reference to Titanfall? I know the meaning behind AK-47 and AR-15 and whatnot, but I'm curious if the Flatline name actually means anything, or they just choose it because it's similar to one of the most recognizable guns on the planet?

  • @dSKyNafinchin Well, in titanfall 2 it was called the "V-47 Flatline" and it was curiously unlocked at level 47 too. But I believe it's clearly a reference to the AK-47 too

    @dSKyNafinchin,

    I think it's the latter. Considering I can't find any signs that VK stands for anything (Especially since the gun is manufactured by Wonyeon Defense, which has neither a V nor a K in it), and judging by the general look of the gun, I think it's most likely a reference. Don't take this as an official source though, I'm just as curious as you.

    I'd love for a Titanfall/Apex Legends lore master to prove me wrong. I have a soft spot for the universe.

    Seen it discussed on one of those "weapon experts react" type videos.  Best guess does seem to be as ref to AK-47.  It's loosely based on the AK's design but with a bullpup type magazine.

    I stumbled across a possible meaning behind the name? I was looking at the Flatline skins on Apex Wiki, and I noticed below the skins, in the "Trivia" section, this little tidbit:

    "The V in the weapon's model number means, if the weapon ID is to be believed, "Vinson". Whether or not this means that Vinson Dynamics had a hand in the creation or design of the weapon, or is just a reference to the developer of the same name is unknown."

    Of course that wouldn't explain the K, or the 47, so I'm just gonna run with the similarity to the real gun as the meaning behind the name, Lmao. Unless someone familiar with Titanfall lore comes along and confirms, of course. I would still be curious about the K, if that were the case though. I wish I could ask the dev that named it

    I appreciate the responses!! Glad to see I'm not the only one curious about trivial stuff like this
