@CompleatBeet Doesn't necessarily have to be the case. Ash could just be an element of future quests and not a playable character but there are datamined bits suggesting Ash is next legend. Just wait and see I'd say.
@Alphabets well, that's how shows work. First season put a lot of elements in a seemingly incoherent plot/story to branch out from in future seasons. It's basic storytelling.

It's entirely possible but I think at the moment she will remain as a plot device, this new map will be an exciting thing to see and I'm looking forward to seeing how the devs make it different from the other two.
