All of this is for apex legendsLike it says here as I want to make sure that I don't do anything that could potentially get my account banned. I still want to communicate though but am worried that whatever I say will be taken out of context or I'll get banned for just saying certain phrases (like it was already confirmed that even typing "your mom" will get you banned even if it was just "what did your mom say about it? or similarly stuff like asking "is that racist?" will also get you banned)If not is it worth just disabling chat althogether?

righto was just making sure however no, people have been banned for those as they posted their ban messages to sites like reddit with it being quoted that it was because of those that they were banned. Additionally there have been other cases of people getting banned for much less:

We don't comment on individual bans @GimmyYourMilk and don't believe everything you read or see online.

I can see why those mey be actioned based on what is there and also those are years-old examples.

Essentially, keep your communication to basic in-game situations. Don't let your frustration get the better of you. And don't let anyone else's toxicity drive you into a state of "they said it so I can say it too." Anyone you play with could at any time have their voice-to-text turned on and be able to provide proof of anything you say. Keep it polite. Keep it constructive. Don't say anything you wouldn't say to your own grandmother.

I appreciate the advice, but I felt your reply came across as a bit condescending. I simply asked as I value my account and want to make sure I'm following the rules. I also thought it was a bit unclear and sent mixed messages as typically they ban you if you cuss or insult people but then the characters in game have kill quips and voice lines where they do just that.

@reconzero This is excellent advice. I had a situation in a gun run tonight where a toxic player kept harassing me in chats. I almost got angry and lashed out, but instead I reported the player for inappropriate chats. Hopefully the game will take the appropriate actions. Sometimes it's tough, but you just have to force yourself to not say anything back, and report them to the game instead of "taking the law into your own hands."

I apologize if I came across as snarky. I sometimes do. I sometimes am.

But the opening question isn't just rhetorical. I really wonder sometimes. Just speak to people as if they were standing in front of you instead of some random and anonymous internet non-entity who you will never see again in your lifetime. And if they lose it or try to bait you into losing it, then just mute them. It's sad that it comes to that, but it often comes to that. Mute and play on.

The hardest thing to do is to speak to someone the way you would like to be spoken to yourself. Especially when they're being terrible for no reason, with their speech or their gameplay.

@GimmyYourMilk I wouldn't worry. I just got an email from EA about a player that harassed me through multiple mixtape matches a couple nights ago (I mentioned this in an earlier post in this thread) and they said they are taking no action against this person.

So, apparently it is not against the rules to harass other players through multiple matches by typing negative messages putting the person down and swearing at them. I actually had to quit playing mixtape to get away from this person, and blocking them didn't work since they would switch to other accounts and keep it up.

I have met a lot more good people in the apex community than I have bad, and there are ten times as many nice people as there are jerks like this. However, between this experience and the youtube videos where cheaters brag on how they get away with their antics in the game, I am wondering do they ever ban people for breaking the rules in this game?

Allowing bullying ot cheating in a game only serves to make the game more toxic and less appealing to new or returning players, especially considering all of the new fps games flooding the market. I hope they rethink this lax enforcement of the rules soon.
