Hi legends!

So obviously there has been a lot of posts about SBMM recently and after speaking to one of my old teammates he's sent me something and it has really thrown a massive spanner in the works when it comes to my thought process on matchmaking...

My friends son plays this game as well, he has had a bundle of high kill games with good damage and he tends to get them quite frequently.

Around 4 days ago now I received a screenshot from him of his sons game which was 14 kills and 3600 damage or something.

I asked the questions to see, but his son has barely EVER played ranked and has only ever sat in Bronze / Silver 4, he only ever really pub queues! He also said that he barely ever gets a Predator in his games and if he sees one it is a rare occasion.

This got me thinking, maybe because the boy never plays ranked and that part is eliminated from his personal matchmaking, the game will only recognise him as a Bronze / Silver player even though he is better than that standard. I will do some more digging around in regards to the KDR and stuff like that but I just found it odd?

@rockyboy1998 I already ‘knew’ current/past ranked participation was a component of SBMM.

Nobody except the ppl who know, know what the requirements of SBMM for this game are, but speculations are just as good cause we ‘know’ it’s at least; dmg (average), win (average), highest game(s), ranked play and kills (overall). But it’s not so straightforward, cause there’s been threads from ppl just joining the game this season or last, never played ranked but basically as soon as they’re above lvl 10-20 and played decently they can see preds, 20 bombers, 4Kers. Not talking about smurf accounts either but full blown lvl 300-500 ppl. So it’s not so clearcut.

@rockyboy1998 based on my personal experience, it's not related.
I've been playing ranked most of the time this season and got to diamond but when I play pubs, I rarely see preds or masters

@rockyboy1998 Give him time. The lack of ranked will eventually be outweighed by his best games. Have him join a friend for a game. That seems to be the item that means the most right now.

@maximas1986 I'm guessing you are solo q'ing the pubs? No way you are that level, squading with friends and not see preds and masters.

@rockyboy1998 It's been my experience that it's a sampling of the last few games. If I play 3-4 rounds and post 2k's in all 3 I end up in top tier lobbies. If I post 15-20 rounds of really bad play I end up in bot lobbies.

Hmm, I'm not sure you know. He is a fairly experienced player.
I've spoken to my friend about it and he is an experienced player himself as well, I mean pre S1 experienced and he said that his son just doesn't ever see the preds or anything.
I honestly think the lack of / no ranked seriously messes up the SBMM...

@rockyboy1998Idk @fallenH3ll and I don't really play ranked. I think we were silver 4 last time I looked. And you've seen the sweaty lobbies we get put in

@rockyboy1998 He needs to squad up with people. And I'd need to see how his solo sessions go.

@hayhor Does that make much of a difference tho? I'm asking as someone that's always in a duo. Tho I do find I have an easier time if I play on my partners account.

@hayhor yep, most of the time am solo either pubs or ranked
