She DOES have a cooldown when flying. There is a fuel limit, and a minimum fuel to ignite the rockets.They increased the minimum fuel once since launch, and I could see the argument that it needs to be increased again because smart players feather that to be harder to shoot when taking high ground. But as noted elsewhere she's vulnerable when flying compared to every other movement character's methods where they can usually shoot.
The missiles are a tactical, by definition. They are technically worse off than the knuckle cluster. I'd argue instead that Bang and Gibby's ults need to do more damage, because they are too low compared to this tactical, which a much larger charge time. If you're not moving out of them when they are telegraphed, that's on you. You should not be pushing when blind.
The problem is, she has an overloaded kit, being both an Attacker and a Scout. Lore wise, and primary parts of kit, she's an Attacker. I think all Scout related perks should be removed from her. Done. Simple. Fixed. No more free skyward dive to avoid fights and get to next ring. You NEED to work with another scout.
- Kyldenar4 years agoSeasoned Ace@CCbathwater They will never delete her, her skins make too much money. They will never make her passive tac as it's the only passive that has a hard limit (fuel) and needs manual activation.
@hayhor already pointed out the counterplays to the missiles.
The only thing that MIGHT happen is they finally remove her Scout abilities and make her an Attacker, like they should have in the first place. - 4 years ago
@Kyldenar Absolutely agree with you on this one. Another thing about Valk that not a lot of people didn’t know is that she’s the only scan legend where the enemy is not notified if they were scanned by her ult.
@Sand_spitter Valk probably is the most powerful and important legend right now in the game especially in Storm Point. Sorry if these were mentioned here already (didn’t read all of the replies)
1. Decrease the gas on her passive or make them refill longer. I was so pissed chasing down this valk up and down in this building as a non-mobility legend.
2. Ult’s cooldown should be the same as the Gibby/Lifeline ult or more. It’s just too powerful.
3. Remove all scan abilities just like what @Kyldenar said.
4. The tactical is fine. Strong but not OP. However, I want Ash’s tactical to be as strong as Valk’s.
She’s still a good addition to the game but definitely needs huge nerfs. The only nerf she received was she can’t spin while launching and an indirect nerf of her unable to use her abilities on top of mountains.

I play a fair amount of Valk, and I have also spent a fair amount of time learning how to kill her (or be killed as her). To this point:
1) While there are disagreements by how much, I can confirm that a LOT of that jetpack is part of her hitbox. Trying to shoot her head on/from behind in the air can be hard (in particular if they know to feather the boosters) but from the side (in particular with a shotgun) is much easier. Try to flank her (Peacekeeper or Mastif from the side with her is like shooting clays).

2) Don't bother trying to chase in urban environments. That's part of the game. Getting YOU to chase her like a rabbit hound while her allies flank you or you get 3rd partied. Gather up, re-group, make her come to you. Yeah, she has that mobility advantage in urban OUTDOORS, but being indoors essentially shuts down her tactical and passive. (The same can be said for Horizon and Pathfinder here, but really notable on Valk)
2.5) If you can, make her chase you out into the open. Without tall things to fly around, a Valk in the air is a sporting clay (Path and Horizon win here due to speed of their movement options). There is a reason what when I am in open areas with little tall cover I RUN from cover to cover rather than fly. Flight is limited to about walking speed with short distance bursts of faster speed if they feather the jets. And if they are doing that, well, there will be a pattern similar to a wave form that you can lead and shoot. (I suck at the shooting part, and if I can 50/50 headshot Valk with a 30-30, so can you. Try and shoot on the up-curve of the wave so if you miss the headshot it's still a body.)
Other pro-tip: Once you cracked her shields, flinch applies to in air movement and missile targeting too.
3) Revenant. If you really hate her, play Rev. Nothing more fun that watching her drop from the sky or jumping like a panicked rabbit when she's been silenced wondering why she can't fly now.
4) Remember, other than her missiles she CAN'T fight back in the air. No guns. If she's flying, she's not shooting at you in a way that you can't clearly see marked on the ground. If she's just used it, she's not using it again for 20-30 seconds. If she's flying, use that time to reposition without getting shot at by her. I think they still need to disallow the feathering the jets part. You can't shoot, but you can re-engage the jets before the hand animation is done.
Frankly, I would be ok with them halving the fuel reserves, yet making flight running speed. It takes speed to maintain flight, in particular with wings that short. - Kyldenar4 years agoSeasoned Ace
