Ranked has that penalty.
Pubs is just pubs. I think it is better to quit than being locked in with bad team mates, or team mates who have a dramatically different playstyle --kinda like you describe. It saves a lot of frustration.
@Vdstrk If you don't want frustration there's no fill option made just for this case. Anyone who starts a pub with teammates and plans to do everything on his own right from the start (leaving as soon as he's knocked) deserves a penalty. It doesn't have to be a time penalty but something is necessary to stop this plague.

@Cro_Pittt
Nope. It does not. No fill is if you wanna play solo. I like playing with a team that behaves as a team.
If a player in my team acts randomly, or, say, that player picks my banner up and trolls with respawning, or trolls with rezzing, toxicity, ineptitude, etc, I have the right to leave.Leaving is also a way to balance the poor job MM does in PUBS.
Having leaver penalty in PUBS is...laughable.Similarly, if you dislike leavers, play ranked.

@Vdstrk You said that it's ok to leave if your teammates have different playstyle. I don't see any team play there. Both of you have to adapt to eachother. Of course for every single thing there are exceptions, like you mentioned people trolling or being afk, it's ok to leave in those and other extreme cases . But you do realize that like 80% of trios become duos-solos because when someone gets knocked they leave immediately right? Not even giving a chance to the team to help them. That's solo playing. Leaving immediately because hey who cares, if i win the fight i'm ImperialHal if not my teammates are bad.
Don't get me wrong, i also leave sometimes when i should not to, but i'll gladly accept a penalty because i know it's a bad thing to do. And i'm not asking for a severe penalty. I don't think a 0 xp gained or no challenge progression after leaving is going to affect you badly. It would be a little thing but at least it'd punish some dumb players that act like they are ImperialHal or Rogue.

*******Big premise, I'm only talking about pubs*******
Were MM better at matching players then it would be a whole different issue.
Since MM prioritizes speed over match, it often happens that team play is non existent.
I cannot carry my team mates, match after match for hours, because MM places me with 2 lvl 20, continuously, who have a collective of 6 hours in the game. Nor should players be expected to do penance, because MM offers you a bad deal in order to prioritize speed over quality. Mind you, I'm fine with speed MM as long as I can leave a bad match.
I'm fine with stretching a bit too. But when the stretch is too large, I break. Everyone has a breaking point, even pros, and I am not even remotely close to what you would call a pro. LOLOLOLOLOL
There are players that I am unable, not unwilling, and I mean it literally unable to carry for whatever reason. In those instances I cherish the "right to leave".
It is a thing to make a mistake, even multiple times and learn from it, it is another to know that you are making a mistake and be forced into it.
Sure I could just stay back and let them die, but then what would the difference be?
You do not know for sure why players leave. An emergency? Because there is no comms? Because there is too much comm? Noise? There are a thousand reasons why.
For me personally, the reason for leaving are strictly related to playstyle. If they are too passive and do not take fights at all, or shoot only from a mile away with an SMG, I'm outta there. Sorry, but that type of playstyle tells me they will not do much to help, other than just shooting randomly in the direction enemies are.
If they drop hot along with other 7 teams, have no voice comm, do not answer questions about their stats, again, I'm sorry I'll leave.
No, I do not know what percentage of trios become duos --I have not seen any official stats for it. In my experience people leave when they do not believe the team has a chance of making it once the leaver himself is reduced to a box. Not knocked only, but boxed up. And most of the times they are correct, virtually always.
I would completely remove stats for pubs only. I mean what do we need stats for in pubs other than MM? Pubs stats should be hidden, and for MM use only.
If you want your stats visible, then earn them in Ranked. Just my opinion.

If you don't want me to leave the game then stop insta dying, stop playing like a *, stop annoying me, stop landing somewhere dumb, stop spam pinging enemies before anyone has even dropped, etc..

@CCbathwater
One of the reasons I avoid ranked is that I may be locked in with players who are very toxic and bad, and have to stay "or else".
Yes you can mute them. Yes you can report them.
Then we are left with arguing if the game is a team based game or not anymore --given no comms in particular if you mute both the players and their pings.
I have left some games despite having the best loadout ever, in Pubs, because 8 minutes in, they were still looting. I was literally crouched in a spot waiting for the team.....
Or because I was the worse on the team... my team mates were both level 500 and skilled. Clearly it was not my lobby. It was more the time I was there licking the floor then the "help" I would have provided. It was actually me dragging the team down by dying constantly, and clearly they were better off without me. It wasn't fun for me nor them, better move on.- 5 years ago@Vdstrk I understand leaving when your teammates are trolling you with rez and Respawn, but now you are saying you leave when you have better teammates than you? Lmao.
We all have games where we do poorly, we keep getting knocked and feel sorry for the team. But a three man team will always be better than a two man team. Take the hard lobby as a challenge, try your best.
- 5 years ago@CCbathwater sounds like someone needs to look for a premade squad.
- CCbathwater5 years agoSeasoned Ace@Daze623 No thank you.
- 5 years ago@Cro_Pittt I am torn on this now. I don't like people who quit as soon as they are downed for no reason at all, but also don't want to be stuck with bad players.
You know in Hydroponics there's a underground section that has lots of loot? Everytime I ping there as jumpmaster, my teammates always break off and land on the top buildings and die, or I die to a different squad. Or I die retrieving their banner. It's mind boggling how some people don't understand simplest concept of teamplay called 'stick with your team'.- 5 years ago
@BaldWraithSimp Is that a hot dropping zone? Didn't know that lol.
Anyway i'm sticking with my idea. You'll always get some bad teammates, not denying that, but you know most of players leave soon as they get knocked. It happens to me at least 7-8 games out of 10. It's unbelievable and honestly i'm getting tired of it, i just can't have fun on pubs because i'm doing 1v3 most of the times.

" i'm getting tired of it, i just can't have fun on pubs because i'm doing 1v3 most of the times."
You would have to do 1v3 even if they were to stay. They insta died the first time around, and they will insta die again next fight. So you would be locked in 1v3 again.
that is MM's Fault IMO.
Think from their perspective. They are level 20s tossed in a lobby that is way above their skill at that moment (or forever for what it matters). They are confined to be paper weight in the form of a box/casket.,
