This isn’t some dig on camping or very slow play ...It’s just a question to people that play that way. It seems to be more prevalent this season which is weird since the map is pretty condensed. I understand playing cautiously at times but this is a game That does reward smart aggressive play. I wonder if maybe sbmm has made it a bit more stressful for people to push out or if players in general just prefer to be one of the last squads and possibly win even at the expense of any and all confrontations....

I dunno 'cause it seems most people think if you're doing anything less than running solo with a white shield into the middle of 2 squads then you're "camping".Imho, holding strong positions isn't camping, being patient isnt camping. It's tactically intelligent."Smart aggressive play" means being aggressive at the right time, to achieve this you must practise patience.Randomly just running into every battle isn't "aggressive" it's dumb.

@fg1985bg The higher possibility of being third partied plays into it. I played with a passive caustic last night. It was different for me. We would be winning fights and he would not want to push because other squads were in the fight. We won the battle but I feel like we could have put an end to it much sooner. How ever if even more squads showed up we would have been in world of trouble.His camping did come in clutch a few times. He’d create a gas trapped building/area for us and he would not venture to far outside of it. I really wanted to just get out there and fight but he would not do it. I finally set up a portal to the fight outside the building, we dropped 5 squads with me portal in and out of the fight and him Using mid range from the building. If I got knocked I’d portal back into the building and he’d revive me worry free. A few enemies took the portal right into the building and gas traps. The passive play was what won that fight.

@fg1985bgYou played ranked? It most certainly does not reward aggressive play... it rewards campers. Unless you are aggressive and good, and lucky, then favor may fall upon you but it does not reward you any more than playing cautiouslythis is coming from an aggressive player who doesnt do ranked cause of all the camping

Why does everyone assume that running into every fight is playing aggressive? It just means being stupid. That’s not what I meant at all. My topic was directed more towards the reasoning behind avoiding all confrontations through out. In my personal experience As a strictly solo player I’ve experienced that far more then any other season this year. I was curious as if sbmm had made players more hesitant to engage for fear of being wasted.

@fg1985bg Well speaking from personal experience, which will differ to others as i play premade. The main factors for playing passive or aggressive for me are as follows;-Is my squad equipped to handle the fight?-Are we in a favourable position to push this fight?-If third partying the duration of said fight, for obvious reasons.Playing overly passive can be just as damaging as over aggressive play. It's mainly about maintaining that optimal balance.

@fg1985bg I think it depends on a variety of things.

I myself enjoy battles, so when I drop in with you random I'm happy to rush. But when I play with my partner we have to be more reserved because she's not as used to the game, and prefers the quiet, longevity approach. That, and there are so many cheaters now that it's quite hard for us to win all our gunfights together regardless.

On the other hand, I have a challenge where I need to place top 5 in ranked 10 times. I never play ranked, I'm not interested in it really. But in those games for the purpose of completing the challenge, I may also feel inclined to take a more passive approach to guarantee survival til then.

@fg1985bg Same most solos don’t want to push anything and run from everything. I like to go take a peak at all shooting I hear. It’s like that gold death box that you know is bait...You just can’t not take a peak. I get hesitant to push fights with solos if they are not having a good round. If I have had to revive them 2-3 times I start to avoid fights and take a “we are camping until top 3 then third partying”

@fg1985bg It's generally what people seem to think is why.

Enemy has high ground and advantage and people think you have to run out into the open and try fight them whilst they have advantage and cover.
If you wait for the ring to force the move then you're "camping".

But otherwise, i don't know... 99% of players im matched with want to leave strong positions to run between 3 squads and fight at the edge of the ring with enemies behind us.
Then when i drop 6 players and these teammates just keep dying and then I die+we lose because can't get out the ring and they wonder why theyre getting no Wins.

I'd love to be paired with cautious intelligent players.

@fg1985bg I've noticed many games are longer. Yesterday me and a friend won 4 games in a few hours of play and in each our games our third was very patient, which was great cause we play that way. The wins were like 21 minutes which seemed long. We push when we know where people are and setup in a house when we know there is a lot going on or there are a handful of teams left and we have rotated well.

I am a caustic and friend is a wattson so once we setup, almost no one gets in without us killing them or a 3rd party being attracted to a prolonged battle. Some might say that is boring but my god it gets intense. I know people must get quite mad at us and probably tell themselves we are ruining the game. That is the beauty of apex tho. People great at running and gunning can do that. Others like me that are just average can win by being smart.
