Had it as well.

Turns out the game or the EA app launcher needs an update.

Exit the app, restart en let it update.

Had to do it twice for it to work but I got an update message and after updates; queues were back to normal.

I don't know why the app allows me to launch a live-service game without the latest updates installed but at least you can fix it on your end.

Also don't know why the app doesn't install new updates automatically despite being turned on as an option.

Or why it doesn't give a warning that an update is needed...
