I tried launching apex legends one day and i got an error saying
"couldn't initialize sound"
please make sure you have a sound playback device that is enabled and properly configured

Miles output follows:
Streaming source audio/ship/general_stream_patch1.mstr is not a miles stream
I have searced and seen people have had similar problems with Titanfall 2.

Thank you I am using a GOXLR and was having this issue. I came across this post after reading numerous others that didn't quite fit my issue. but I opened up Apex as you said, had my windows volume mixer up, and as soon as the error came up a new program popped up in the mixer, I set that program to be my game sound as it was showing blank not set to route at all. Now my game is running as normal.

I found a very simple solution.
When an error occurs, do not exit the game, go back to the computer desktop, enter the sound settings, find the game sound settings, you will see that the output and input are not selected, or the default, and then select the output and input settings by yourself, then exit the game and enter again will solve the problem.
