@EA_Mako this is an extremally interesting point. I say in another thread that someone had a corrupted keyboard driver that they said was causing their apex legends to crash. is there any way we can depict what device it is? without have to plug them in 1 by 1? I have 2 keyboards, 1 wired mouse (glorious model O-, 1 wireless mouse Logitech G305, a Tonor Q9 desktop condenser Mic, and a Nacon Revolution Unlimited Controller.
A bit of trial and error would be necessary in this case I'm afraid.
I would definitely suggest starting with whichever keyboard and mouse you use the most, with all other devices removed (unplugged) temporarily.
In this case having a backup of each comes in handy, so if you see crashes continue with the initial setup you can try restarting and swapping in the next pair to determine whether that continues.

with you saying that the USB driver was causing crashes, i went down into my device manager and in the USB controllers.. I have a unknown USB device(device descriptor request failed) i have been searching online for the last 2 hours on what this is and why its happening. I have tried quite literally every fix for that and I have not resolved the issue. however since you said my crashes were linked to a USB 3.0 driver. I figured this is what is probably causing the issues in the first place. the only problem I am encountering would be..... I've unplugged all USB devices from computer. And I mean all... the only thing connected to the board is the network antenna, which I dont use because I have ethernet anyways. my question now, how do I fix this? there isn't a single USB device in the computer, and it still says unknown USB device(device descriptor request failed) in the drop down. i dont mind not having all those USB's not plugged in. all i need is the 1 keyboard 1 wired mouse 1 headset 3.5 aux jack and the controller. my question to you, if it does not cause conflict with my 4 devices specified just now. can i just disable the device entirely? i honestly have no idea what its attached to. like I said I remove all USB devices and its still there.
The 2 USB composite devices are my keyboard and mouse.

@EA_Mako I forgot to tag you in last post. idk if you have Sub to replies on.

uninstalling the device and restarting to computer doesn't fix it. on restart I open device manager and its back saying unknown USB device(device descriptor request error). however disabling it could be a solution?

@Broppled_TV it may well be that a USB connection itself is broken. And Windows reenables it on startup to then become an error.
I would try your own suggestion first, disable the unknown USB, and restart.
If a USB connection is physically damaged or broken, you could plug in and out a mouse or USB device, to see which one it is, if any.
Googling lead me here, might be worth looking at

@Broppled_TV how old is your pc, did you buy it new?
After unplugging, have you checked the internal connections are right and tight?

Just want to add on that I have had the exact same problem for 3 seasons now, so I'm watching this thread very closely.
Sometimes, around the first split, it will stop crashing or maybe crash once a night.

MAN, let me tell you I have been going through it. after @EA_Mako told me I had a USB 3.0 Driver causing quite a few crashes I believe. (received through DxDiag) I have Verified EVERY ONE of those USB ports they all work. I am still very active on this thread, I many be on the right path to fixing my problem. I have a call with tier 3 tech support tomorrow hopefully we can get my issue resolved so I can get back to apex troubleshooting. I am not sure that my problem resides with anything but my current problem. (Oh, that makes sense in my head but not so much out loud)

2 years old i would say, i bought the pc from someone on FB marketplace. he had boxes, warranty's and a nice Rig. I was sold on the deal at the time and purchased it. (its a sick build) everything on it seems to be functioning properly
- OldTreeCreeper3 years agoHero+
@Broppled_TV there are so many variables involved it is very difficult to get to the numb of the problem here. Pl let us know how you get on with the teck support.
- OldTreeCreeper3 years agoHero+
@Broppled_TV it may have been overcl8cked at some point or have heat issues around the cpu paste, or there may be a bottleneck in the wiring on the ssd.
I would be pretty shocked if these crashes are temperature spike related, in my case why would the game gain increased stability later in the season after a patch or two? Would be nice if we could at least get some developer acknowledgment on this issue.
I have taken care of my system, I typically dont run very hot. CPU rarely ever touches 80. my GPU has touched 80 a couple times. I dont like gaming in a sauna, so I make it work. everything is stable and the pastes are nicely applied. as for my RAD for my CPU cooler, I probably need to change its coolant. but temps dont seem to be a problem giving me no indication I have to change it. I have the CPU overclocked yes. its a base 3.6GHz CPU, I have it @ 4.9 GHz on all cores, STABLE. bottleneck in SSD wiring doesn't seem to be the issue, however I wouldn't really know. I get my read and write speeds that are offered on all my SSD's

@Broppled_TV did you get the teck call yet?
Yeah under full load, stably overclocked to 5.0, I never get above 65°C. GPU is running stock. And SSD "wiring bottleneck" just doesn't make sense on any level - maybe he means running a SATA4 SSD in a SATA2 port or something - I don't know, like I said, that makes zero sense.
This, to me, feels like a hardware compatibility issue. Like the game tries to load an asset or perform a function and if you have a particular combination of components and drivers it causes a windows panic somewhere.
- OldTreeCreeper3 years agoHero+
@meinfartbox the bottleneck can happen where an ssd cannot keep up and freezes or crashes. I had this with yt where he has a ssd of 120gig as his c drive. It has easily filled up and needs constant management. For example, the windows paging files reset to the c drive filling it up completely and created all sorts of problems. Bottlenecking can also occur where the drive wiring from the mb is not up to the speed of the drive.

I give that a 0.001% chance of being the issue.
Not sure about Broppled but my game is installed on an M.2 whose sole purpose to is to be game storage. - Wolferato3 years agoNew Ace
@OldTreeCreeper Doesn't Apex have like a dubug console and logs or some debug command line?
@WolferatoThats the worst part about this issue. There is NOTHING in game logs. Not sure about command line debug though.
- 3 years ago@OldTreeCreeper I have not gotten the call, im going to assume it was because of the weekend. Im expecting to hear back tomorrow. Still following thread fixing issues on my end along the way regarding the USB problem.

Go into your BIOS , Set avx Off Set From Auto to 2
- OldTreeCreeper3 years agoHero+
@BigBodyBenz94 what does that do?
Fixes the crashing!
- OldTreeCreeper3 years agoHero+
@BigBodyBenz94 I guessed that you were putting forward a possible solution, I was looking more for a description of what your possible solution does and why. It may be helpful to other members of the forum.

@OldTreeCreeper I still have yet to receive my call from Tier 3 tech support, idk how many tiers they have but I believe I have made headway on my problem here.
the tier 2 tech was not able to fix the problem USB 3.0 issue, so I took it upon myself to disable the device in device manager as it was not giving me problems with my other devices.
So long story short, I decided to launch apex last night out of a whim and I was able to play for about 45 mins straight with no crashes, played some matches this morning with no crashes. however, I have done quite literally everything under the sun solution wise to fix the issue. I was not able to depict what exactly fixed my problem but I can almost guarantee that a keep my files system restore fixed my issue, I took my OC from 4.9 GHZ down to 4.6. not for the reason it wasn't stable, because it was. I just wanted to see if that was going to eliminate the issue. so I recommend if you are experiencing these same issues with apex legends crashing to desktop with no errors or indicators that something went wrong, that you system restore your PC and select Keep My Files*.
I'm not going to say that my problem is fixed because I have not put enough playtime/testing since i have been able to play again, im gonna gather about 10 hours worth of gameplay and report back if there was any crashes or inconsistency's along the way.
When i say i tried quite literally everything, im serious... Bios options, registry tweaks, driver updates, Overclock stability. these are just a few of the options I attempted which resulted in no fix.
THE ONLY RELATIVE FIX IS A "KEEP MY FILES" SYSTEM RESTORE, this is going to repair your registry files, and repair any corrupted essential windows files.
I know this might not be the most help, and I wish that I truly had an answer for the rest of you guys regarding this problem. I went about 28-30 days troubleshooting, on the phone with Microsoft tech support, even they were not able to fix my problem.
system restore was my last option, im glad it is resulting in positive results, if I run into more problems with the game (knock on wood) I am going to factory reset the entire PC, I cant go through all this again. my suggestions to any others in this situation, would be to do the same.
- OldTreeCreeper3 years agoHero+
@Broppled_TV thank you for getting back. If a system restore did it then its might have been an update or a downloaded program since the restore point that caused the conflict.
I hope it stays stable for you.
It's a pain in the neck to factory reset, I feel that pain. Even with a new laptop it takes me 4 or 5 hours to get it setup as I like it. Then installing programs on top of that.....
