Apex screen goes black, something to do with my internet.

Before i started uni my apex would take sometimes hours for me to log on saying attempted connection 1/9 and it took me changing servers and restarting my game to get on. When i went to uni this problem disappeared completely and everything is perfectly fine. Now i've quit uni and whenever I try to log onto apex i get a complete black screen, however i can access the game perfectly fine with a vpn which is okay but makes me really laggy.
