Controller not working

The issue im dealing with is my controller working in apex. I load into the game the first time everything is working fine while I warm up. But I decided to lower my framerate in the steam settings. I do lower it by putting the exec to 144. ( +fps_max 144 ) from 200 fps. I also removed a bunch of other commands I didn't know about. Then when I loaded back up apex legends my controller wasn't connecting to apex. and I know it was working because I keep getting the steam notification that my gamepad (controller) is on. and it only shows when I turn on my controller. I'm assuming It was something I deleted. and I don't know how to fix it. I even deleted and reinstalled the game. And nothing changed. If anyone has any recommendations or suggestions that would be incredibly helpful.
