PLEASE EDUCATE ME but from my understanding this is the epitome of a contradiction. If I have a ea account on a old platform that I now want to play on from a different platform with a different ea account. At some point I’ll be forced to unlink to have both accounts be tied to one or else they will never merge per never being tied, correct? So why for the sake of my mental health is everyone saying don’t unlink…?
HI @BasedEugene
When Cross Progression was introduced to Apex Legends, the intention was that all accounts you have tied to a Single EA account (EA App, Steam, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo) would now share progression and items.
To confirm If you have an older platform you played on (say PlayStation) and it was linked to an older EA account, then sometime later you made a new EA account on Xbox (for example).
These would be 2 Separate EA accounts, if you attempt to unlink the PlayStation account (from the above example), to link it to the EA account that has your Xbox tied to it, you will be removing any progress you made on your PlayStation account.
So when your newer EA account (that would now have Xbox and Playstation tied to it) gets Cross Progression you won't have any progress you made from PlayStation (due to having unlinked it from the older EA account).
This is further explained in our help article: Unlink your platform accounts from your EA Account
So if you have 2 EA accounts, that have different platforms tied (say PlayStation and Xbox) you will want to get in touch with our support for further assistance.
If you, Accidentally unlinked the wrong account or having issues linking the correct one? You'll need to get in touch with support:

Issues after Cross Progression is activated on your account? Check here first!Hope this helps! This is much clearer explanation than anything I’ve learned before so thank you for that. My problem is that I’ve unlinked my irrelevant Xbox account to link it to my PlayStation account where everything of value is so that I get all the progression from there to my now Xbox account that I wish to be my main console. I do not care about losing anything on the Xbox account because it was just a secondary platform waiting to be my main. I’ve done all of this AFTER I got the cross progress message because the message didn’t have a second screen, it just disappeared after clicking continue. So the big question is will the accounts tie overtime?

The thing is, many people are unlinking the opposite of what you've just said. We don't care about the account that we unlinked, that's why we unlinked it. I've kept my original EA account linked to the original platform that I created it for, and have now ALSO linked that same original EA account to my xbox.
This is after I unlinked an EA account from my xbox that I do NOT care about.
And now my xbox Apex is stuffed.
This is what people are saying, they're not complaining about the example you tried to give, so it was not very helpful sorry. I think what most of us want to know is, is that once cross progression rolls out to us, will it fix this glitch or have we been stuffed over.

WAIT, wait wait wait, people are losing ALL their content because they unlinked an account they don't care about???????????? for example, I had 2 EA accounts, and I unlinked my PSN EA account cause I don't care about the playstation stuff (I just want my old xbox stuff back), does this put in danger my Xbox stuff???????????? even tho I DIDN'T unlinked the xbox account?????
