having issues with in-game movement

Does the troubleshooting steps above in my previous comment help out at all?

It's worth checking to see if the latest drivers are downloaded for your keyboard.

I have discovered the cause of my problem. It is indeed my keyboard, but it only happens when the CPU is hot, because the W key is right up against the CPU. I have no idea while this works while the chat is open.
