Linux - Your Account has been disabled

Hello,

Creating this thread to basically gather information and to see if this only affects me or not. I've complained in other threads and on X, but figured I should actually make something productive instead. I would guess that the amount of players using Linux is small, but I'm hoping at least someone can collaborate this and get some attention on it.

29/Aug/24 8:01 PM UTC I got an Account Ban on my account. I'm playing Apex Legends through Steam, using Arch Linux with default Proton version and NVIDIA 560 drivers (and X11, not Wayland). While I can't prove to anyone else that I don't cheat, I can at least swear that I have not cheated.

KimKat98 created a reddit thread about a similar issue on linux_gaming ( PSA: Using Proton Experimental (or, at least bleeding-edge) on games with anti-cheat can get you banned (in Apex Legends) : r/linux_gaming (reddit.com)  )

And ofc, the ban disputes only gives an generic answer that they have made the correct choice, even though they will not specify why they banned me.

Respawn community manager RSPN_Thieamy asked Linux users who got banned on Reddit to send their user id's so they could investigate here.

Maybe you can send your user id and if investigation goes well they can fix this issue and unban your account.

My ban was just Overturned! Thanks to RSPN_Thieamy for letting the devs know about the problem.

    @PalanorI'm the creator of the Reddit thread that was linked, just commenting to add that I was playing with Linux Mint 22 via Proton Experimental bleeding-edge and sometimes GE, as shown in the post. My account ban simply lists "BAN" with a blank reason, and when asked for what exactly I did I was only given a generic copy pasted answer that I was cheating. This is not the first time Apex Legends has falsely banned Linux players, It goes back to over a year ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/apexlegends/comments/11gaefo/ea_is_falsely_massbanning_steam_deck_and_linux/

    I am also affected by this issue. I explained my case under the Reddit Thread. This has to be an issue with the last patch because I wouldn't have switched to Proton Experimental if game continued to work fine with Proton 9.0.2. Please fix this issue and remove false bans.  

    Edit : They removed my ban thanks to RSPN_Thieamy from reddit. If you are also affected by this try contacting Thieamy.

    i got this issue too, i hope this gets sorted out i just got my heirloom and completed the battlepass split 1 lol

    Another false ban chiming in. Never cheated and never will, playing on Ubuntu 22.04, NVIDIA 550 drivers, ProtonGE-9.12. Same deal, no email about the ban and no reason listed, also had the pleasure of getting my appeal immediately rejected by whoever looks at those. I also experienced some performance issues in the day and a half before the ban, big stutters and the occasional complete crash.

    Hope I can get my account back, was really enjoying the game until this happened...
