Ok I found what was effecting me. Hopefully this helps others. For some reason Apex was defaulting to my integrated Intel graphics rather than my GTX 1070. Forced Apex to use my GTX under global settings and I am now back to regular FPS expectations.

Yep. I realised that as soon as I went into task manager. A big 70% on my Intel UHD Graphics and a fat 0% on my 1060. Head into your Nvidia settings. Go to Manage 3D settings and find Program Settings. Then head to browse and navigate to your ApexLegends download. Click on the r5apex application and hit open. Then when it says select preferred graphics processor. Change that to your Nvidia Graphics Card. Hope I helped! I assume you're all using laptops that's why!

It's also important to make sure you have the latest driver for your video card. Some players might take a break and return to a game only to find their video card driver outdated, causing technical issues when either launching the game or during play. Video card drivers tend to come out quite frequently now, sometimes multiple times a month.
I cant seem to find global settings, is it not available in the start menu?
Where is the "Global Settings" you spoke of? Is it in-game or in file settings?

Same issue, not related to any integrated graphics. Its just low fps with my GTX. Turning adaptive on helps in the field but during fights drops to 30 or even less. Its unplayable. Fortnite runs 120-160 fps.
GTX 960 2gb, i5 4570, 16gb ram.
