Microphone doesn't work.
Hello, My microphone won't work in Apex Legends. It is recognized in windows and works when I test it. In audio options I can see my mic and the microphone bar doesn't move when I speak on push...
I've done the following troubleshooting
1. Disabled all audio output/inputs other then my headphones I use for input/output.
2. Tried with discord not running
3. Tried updating all firmware
4. Tried other mics/headsets
5. Put in the steam port forwarding recommended to my router
6. Asked ea customer support and they're clueless as usually
7. Put in a firewall exception for my antivirius, tried with my antivirius off too.
8. Looked online extensively.
10. Set all my sound settings to my headset's input/output.
11. Reinstalled everything (Steam, apex, firmware, etc.)
***Oddity, it worked the first time I ran, it then never again.
HELP!
@Teros1121 To better understand, is the mic:
- Not working at all
- Kinda works, but not really
- It shows you're talking, but no one can hear you
- Others report your audio is choppy, robotic, static, or otherwise hard to understand
- Others say you're too loud or too quiet
Second Question:
- Does your mic work with other programs and/or on other systems?, (such as Discord, Consoles, etc.)
Can you also include a screenshot of your in-game sound settings?
Optional: Screenshot of the sound settings for the headset, as if I recall correctly, the game isn't a fan of certain settings, (but if it worked once, its more likely a game issue).
I mainly want to see the open mic threshold setting, like so:
Note: The game's voice chat does need a rework as well, (in my opinion), so its very possible nothing on your end is at fault and its 100% the game. Just trying to figure out what's going on.
1. Not working at all, no indicators.
2. Yes, it works with everything else.
See attached for screenshot.
Not sure what exactly you wanted for the optional part, but see attached. I can only attach three atm. I have one more though for general sound settings.
Not sure if I selected reply to you specifically, but see previous post.
"Not sure if I selected reply to you specifically, but see previous post."
- You didn't, but I do check back on threads I reply to, so its all good.
"Not sure what exactly you wanted for the optional part"
- Just any setting relating to the headset/mic, (such as the ones you've attached), or anything from a program that's associated with the headset/mic, (like how mine uses the Razer Synapse):
For privacy reasons, could you either edit or remove the two screenshots of the Windows settings to not include your email address?
As for what I can tell so far, your settings, (both in-game and on your PC), appears to not be the issue, and if you're using other headsets and those don't work, then its more likely not a settings issue.
In the bottom right side of your screen, do you see a mic icon, (and does it say Apex is using your mic)? If it doesn't say this, then the issue might be that Apex doesn't have permission to use your mic. As you can see with mine, AMD Software꞉ Adrenalin Edition, Discord, and Apex Legends are all currently using my mic:
So, if you don't see Apex show up while the game is open, go into your settings and give it permission to use your mic.
This should be:
Windows Settings -> Privacy & Security -> (Scroll Down) App Permissions -> Microphone
